A growing number lakes and reservoirs around here have banned the use barbed hooks. And you'd better not have any barbed hooks in your tackle box (and not just on the end of your line).Bend down the barbs.
Use a needle threader (tool typically for threading needles).Hey since I have some anglers gaze, any wy to thread ice jigs? t takes me 15 minutes in a wind-free room with mag glasses on...
This sounds tool cool~BUT, I'm going to try this by myself, so I don't look like a fool if it doesn't work and it just ties my line to a branch wedged in a gills mouth...Cut a stick the size of a pencil. Stick it in the fish past the hook. Hold the line against the stick with your thumb. Give the fish a spin. Hook will be in the stick and the fish near your feet.
Do you use line? We have just drunk on the boat ramp and left...This is why I never put hooks on my line when I go fishing. Just a bobber and a sinker. Less fuss with the fish, more relaxing with a beer by the water.
LOL I have one, rusted shut, if I caught a fish big enough for that thing, I'll just stick my arm in...Found this "hook out" tool at an estate sale. Figured it'd be great for grabbing tiny things I dropped in tight places. Only later did I find out it was a fishing plier.
And they still make it! For $15 it's hardly worth fabbing one - unless of course you're into that sort of thing!

Yes line. It's funnier when Fish and game guy comes by and I tell him I don't need a fishing license and there's no hook on the line and no hooks in my tackle box. Watching the "I GOTCHA!!!" melt is priceless.Do you use line? We have just drunk on the boat ramp and left...
