A few months ago I re-organized my shop and downsized my tool box collection to one box. It was a good reason to look for a new snap on box and I really wanted a power tool organizer. I'm also cheap, so I decided against it.
I already had a nice older snap-on krl761, so I polished up and bought a stainless top for it and lots of organization goodies. I couldn't however, buy a power tool organizer for it. I could buy one for a larger 30" deep triple bank, but I would have had to cut it down after spending $300. The 761 is similar to the current KRL722 and is only 24" deep.
I'm fairly good at fabrication, so I decided to make my own. I did some searching here and found the part numbers for the tool "holsters". Since that's the difficult part to make, I knew the rest was just sheet metal. I measured and layed it all out in cad and had my local metal shop laser cut some aluminum panels. I bent them at a friends shop and here we are. I'm still waiting for a piece of 1" x 1" black uhmw for the support that goes under the grips of the tools and keeps the outer plates stretched apart.
Holster part numbers. 1098APA03 for the large one ($3.20). 1098APA02 for the small ($2.75). I probably have $70 in this total.
All loaded up.
