I made a DIY thread tap today because i didn't have the correct size tap and it worked perfectly!
Good video, I've done that before myself. One thing though, you show a 3/8-16 bolt to rethread a 12MM hole, won't work, 3/8 is smaller. Gonna guess you probably actually used 1/2-13.

great advice using the Allen bolts.I did that many times back before I had a thread chaser set.
Depending on how you do,your slots you can make it work a couple of ways.
One way you grind it, it will help,to,reform the threads like a chaser does.
But you can also grind it with more of an edge like a tap to clean out gunked up,threads.
To make it work,properly. Or the best it can. You need to,use a minimum of a grade 8 bolt but better you can use an Allen bolt as they have more case hardness to them
