Do I need a filter for my (air) regulator?

Hi,

A little background: I'm a bike mechanic who's making a little shop in my brother's attic (he has a car shop with an upstairs room he lets me use). I'm planning on running a 50-foot hose from his air system up to my space. His air pressure is too high for my needs, so I want to get a regulator to dial it down a bit.

So, do I really need to get one of those filter-regulators for my point of use? Or can I get away with just the regulator? Most of the time I will be inflating tires and just blowing stuff off for cleaning, but I plan on using an impact wrench and a little die grinder sometimes. I mean, by the time the air passes through about 80 feet of his copper pipes and then my 50-foot hose (some of it "uphill") wouldn't the air be cooled and dry?

Any related insights would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks!

Should I put in some sort of vent valve to bleed off any water? There won't be much of a "drop." The hose will go up a story and then straight across a wall, after which it'll likely drop straight down about a foot or so to my point of use.

If you are going to buy a regulator anyway, just buy a combination regulator / dryer. You would be amazed at how much moisture comes through the line, especially once you start using some volume like with the die grinder. Something like this is all you need:
