All mine stay in the case and in the drawer unless I'm using them, then it's in the case or in my hand. I won't set one down anywhere else. I sure can't have them laying on the ground or rolling around in a drawer.

My wife wishes I had treated our babies with such care.

I was just wondering this same thing today as I tried juggling them around in my toolbox to create more space. I was thinking of ditching the cases....but it sounds like most people keep them!

Separate question -- how often do y'all calibrate them? I'm in aviation professionally, and we calibrate our torque wrenches every 1-3 years or so depending on what it is.

It's a precision instrument, so I keep it in its case. Don't want it getting banged around. It's not like it's a 1/2" combination wrench.

I keep my Techangles in their cases. They are precision tools, came with a decent case, and were expensive. The 3/8" and 1/4" fit in normal 26" wide cabinet drawers. The 1/2" does not. I also remove the batteries, as I only use them occasionally.

At first in the cases. But they do take up room. So out of the cases and into a drawer basically by themselves. But the cases are kept if needed for transportation. The ones used in the shop were tested about every year. Had a place that could test them. But I think there is some way to test them in the shop. Just don't remember how.

Yep, same here. Started out in the cases, but they took up too much room, so away went the blow molded storage cases. I still kept the cases in case one needs to go back for rebuilding/calibration.

Out of the clases in the drawer lying on their own in the direction of drawer sliding. All 3 of mine are Snap On and have a flat side to them preventing from rolling.

We keep ours in abs pipe with some foam, one screw cap end, for offroad trips. Keeps them from getting banged up, clean, safe enough for trail work, and easy to pack.

Same here. Although space is at a premium in my boxes, I keep them in their cases, likewise with calipers and micrometers.

I keep my tech wrenches in their cases when not in use, they are expensive and I want to keep them in perfect working order. The only one not in its case is my 1/4, I bought it used and it didn't come with one, I've been meaning to contact Snapon customer service and see if I can purchase a new one

Keep mine in the cases in the drawer also, but when I worked in the tire shop they would keep them hanging on the wall.

Always wound down to lowest setting of course.

Yup, In their cases in a drawer personally. But, I do know guys that cut the plastic hinged top off the cases for easy access at the open of a drawer.

I don't have a case for my inherited 1/2" Mac Tools but it stays in the tool box at the lowest setting. My new 3/8" and 1/4" Snap On stay in the box in their cases. These were checked for calibration and no adjustments were necessary. As long as you don't drop the torque wrench, a calibration may not be necessary. My MAC was +/- 1% and SOs were +/- 2%. Incidentally, 3/8" HF was only +/- 1% off.

All of them stay in their cases, except the 1/2 drive that gets used multiples times a day. that one stays in the top drawer and doesn't get banged around.

Interesting. The case my Proto 1/4" came in was absurdly long, maybe 4-6" longer than the wrench.

I'll have to make some room for them; I've got enough torque stuff now that a dedicated drawer makes sense.

Same here. In cases with batteries out.

I keep all my torque wrenches in their cases, except for a Craftsman that didnt come in one.
