I do not shut off the compressor at night. I changed the pressure switch and the new one does not have a switch on it so only have the breaker, which are not designed to be an on/ off switch. I also have a ball valve near the tank but do not turn it off. I have thought of putting a solenoid in line and having it on a timer so it is only on when I elect to turn it on. Same thing for the compressor, must add these to my list. I did have a V belt break once and the comp was running for a while, luckily I was in the garage at the time.
