I have to say my milwaukee impact has not met a bolt it can't break. The 2767 just had insane torque for a battery impact.
IIRC mine is a 2684 and as good as any 3/4 pneumatic I have ever seen. BUT: I see that red stuff now comes in 1" as well (2869 for a mere $2 Gs)

I use mine a lot, and even installed a copper line to support a dryer/regulator setup with drains. Typical uses include: blowing out small appliances (PC, roomba, upright vacuum), blowing out bathroom ceiling vents, blowing out dryer lint area, blowing grass and debris from small engines, inflating tires, applying Woolwax undercoating, removing pesky lug nuts, painting, air chisel for anything that needs to be separated or destroyed.

The allure of battery or corded impact sounds good on paper, but for me, that would be about 10% of the use...I'd still want compressed air for the reasons above. Plus batteries die after a while, but my $50 air impact could sit in a toolbox for 10 years (oiled before storing) and work perfectly.

But...then I remembered..."The dreaded Honda crank bolt".
If you've ever worked on Honda V6 engines, you know what I'm talking about.
Have you tried the crank bolt sockets?

Pretty much any 1/2” cordless impact will be fine.

My 3/4” pneumatic impact has been in a 5 gallon bucket with other unused pneumatic tools for years. That was the only thing I ever used it on.

Yep, I tried just about everything over the years, the "magic sockets, heat cold, pry bar and jack, etc. Still haven't found a good enough 1/2" cordless that will get all of them. A couple here and there, but not all.

You'll have to pry my 3/4" air impact from my cold dead hands.

Recently I picked up a bigger for me compressor 30 gallon. Biggest I could find that runs quiet. I hate the sound of a loud compressor and the loudness of air tools. I have to save my hearing. I usually use cordless tools as much as possible, but I needed an impact hammer and did not have one and decided that would not happen again. So I have an impact hammer and recently have been acquiring smaller rotary air tools for metal work I plan to do in the future. I also see a blast cabinet in my future.

I don't need a cutoff wheel or die grinder often enough to run out and buy cordless versions and still use it for tire inflation. Once a year in late fall I blow out my 24 zone sprinkler system and my lift has air locks.

Picked this one up,,,Sprinkler system compressor . These are set for 40 psi max, and hardly get used.. I just run it when i don't need the big one.. I changed the pulley, and belts to slow it down, and it's super quiet. Plenty of CFM for most things too. Still 3 phase, but i just use my Rotary until I get around setting up a VFD/etc. The Pressure switch is all that needed changed..I can run both compressors, and really get some CFM for my blast cabinet..Not that The champion could not keep up well. Air locks on my lift are handled be the smallest Senco made..

Just when I thought I wouldn't use air tools anymore I went and bought another compressor. Doing some deck work and you just can't beat pneumatic nailers. I know screws are better but with pt ring shank nails hold great and go in fast with a coil mailer. I picked up this dewalt battery compressor and I have to say I'm impressed, no problem keeping up. It makes a nice addition to the miter and table saw. I do have a dewalt cordless framing nailer but no comparison to pneumatic, so looks like composed air is still viable. Although the compressor is cordless so is it a hybrid system?

While I responded to this thread several years ago, I can honestly say nothing has changed for me. I use my air daily in the shop. In fact, it is the second thing I turn on when I walk into the shop, lights are first.

I have added one or two cordless tools since I last posted but air is still the dominant means of performing work in my shop each day. My Quincy compressor is 30+ years old and still going strong with normal maintenance. Just bead blasted an oil pan last night and ran a DA around the perimeter, then cleaned a few parts in the solvent tank and blew off the residual all using air.

My biggest tank is only 600 gallons, so I will have to find something to keep up with the 930 Jonses. But, I have you beat (barely) in number of compressors. Largest is 130 cfm diesel, 30 HP elec screw, 3 HP recip in home shop, 2HP recip and 2 x 2HP screws on farm and a 1/2 HP backup in my shop plus wife's 1/2HP in house. Never thought of counting, but I guess at 1 up I have achieved 1 upmanship. Didn't include compressors on air brake trucks.

Yes, I still use my air tools from time to time, and of course blast cleaning is only going to work by running a compressor. Also have a LOT of large tires on farm, battery toys ain't gonna fill them.

Battery tools have gotten more compact, but air tools are generally more compact and lighter. So you can sometimes fit them in where you cannot with battery tools. The air hose can get in the way though. Air tools, once you have air, are also pretty cheap and last long. Some things like blasting air, media blasting, etc are all better or only possible with air. But a big problem is you need a BIG compressor for some stuff like media blasting or high load and long duration grinding. I use larger air impact and air cutoff tools (for compact) a fair amount still since I am setup for it and battery for smaller and easy access jobs.

Die Grinders, plasma cutter, air files, air nozzles, tires, paint guns….

Cordless has displaced a lot of my need, but certainly not all of it.

I have a 40g Craftsman with a cast iron two cylinder compressor head at home that will last a few lifetimes. My problem with air tools started when I lost my leg in a hit and run motorcycle wreck in 2010. I live in a wheelchair and navigating air hoses, and even power cords, has become exhausting. As a result, I have built up a decent arsenal of battery tools to do everything I need. I won’t give up my air compressor, though it rarely see any use.
