I bought a set of the Industrial screwdrivers. Still use 'em. They've held up great! Some of the black oxide finish is wearing on them. The tips have grooves in them to help grip screws.

The older Craftsman industrial power tools were rebadged top of the line Black and Decker products. At the time, they were right up there with the Milwaukee stuff. When Dewalt and B&D got together the line went to hell.

It could be a case where Sears decided the industrial tool channel was not panning out the way they had hoped. Instead of abandoning their investment, they put some lipstick on their pig and repositioned their industrial line as their Professional line. This kind of stuff happens all the time.

Who said it was a pig? You just heard these guys praising the lie of tools? Have you ever seen or used these tools?

They still make them i think.

I don't think so. I've been ordering bits and pieces of it from Sears.com, but they're missing a lot of the more common sizes so it seems to just be NOS that they haven't run out of yet.

Craftsman Industrial is on the website as Craftsman "Professional Use" vs. Craftsman or Craftsman Professional.

Ha remember? I'm still using a few, some of the best you could get if Sears was your tool source

6 gallon pancake air compressor and 5.5 amp 4 1/2 angle grinder

I have been looking around and if replacement was ever needed the specs on that compressor of 4.7 @ 40 psi/3.3 @ 90 psi can't be easily matched by most similar style units on the mkt today.

My Dad bought this Industrial inline drill (not a pistol grip) back in the early 60's. Hit something solid and it will dislocate your shoulder. Single speed but, it also had a great keyless chuck. A button below the chuck locks the shaft and you can spin the chuck to lock or unlock. Always wondered why every drill wasn't made that way. I have several of these cast aluminum power tools all made late 50's to mid-sixties and really enjoy using them.

I have two complete sets of their industrial screw drivers, one set was boxed, forgotten and never used. I found it going though things a few months ago.

The Craftsman Industrial/Professional tools varied.
Just looking thru the catalog from 1995, I see wrenches from SK, Facom, and an I think later there were tools made by Armstrong.
One of the hacksaws looked like the Dreier type, which later seemed to be manufactured by Klein.
The power tools varied.
Some looked like Black & Decker Professional/Industrial line tools.
Others appeared to be made by Skil (back when Skil was a US made brand intended for industrial use)
I have absolutely no clue who manufactured some of the other tools, including the all the routers and some of the drills.
