I bought this on ebay a few years ago and have found nothing about it! From the potmetal casting and George Jetson styling, I want to say it's from the early 60s but I've got nothing to go on.

It's great for heating up steel to bend, or just impressing your friends. When lit up it looks like an F15!

It does have one fairly major fault and that it's prone to a flame out, The range of low to high is limited to about an 1/8 of a turn, and if you turn it beyond that it will blow itself out. Anybody got any ideas on how to fix that?

There are different jet sizes for these propane torches, don't know if they're still available. When you changed tips, you had to change jet sizes to avoid flame outs or too small a flame. They would get stopped up, and you could just replace the jet instead of replacing the torch. It's a small stepped lump of metal that fits into the tube, and is held on by the torch nozzle. It had a micro hole in it to control the fuel flow volume.

ooh! thanks for that link! It's interesting that the nearly NOS had two different heads, for an either/or not necessarily 'more power' Mine has the same heads. Maybe one of mine has been switched which would account for the easy flame out!

You can still purchase dual-head or multi-head torch tips. The ones I've seen usually only have one adjuster knob for both heads though. The double burner heads are sometimes used for larger pipe soldering jobs.
