Does anyone really care?

Hello all. I've been mostly on a lurking/idea stealing mission since I joined. I have bought some NWS tools from Ash, tho. PRIMO tools, btw. I'm building a new shop behind the house 30Wx36D. Footers are poured, kneewall finished today. The question is, does anyone really care to see another garage get built? I'm cheaping out as much as i can on this build, but will be a place where i will most likely make a decent supplementary income. I don't want to clog up anyone's website with another shop, but I've put a lot of my time into this already and am excited beyond explanation. I'm so jazzed, I'll attach a pic of the kneewall done.

thats exactly the same size as my garage, but I flipped it and made 3 bays on the long side. what height of walls are you going with? I have 9 foot side walls but for a few bucks more I had the trusses scissored so I have over 11 feet in the center. Are you doing the work yourself? I did all of mine but the cement. Its pretty easy and goes up fast. not sure how your roof line is but mine is a gable. If yours is the same make sure your truss builder makes the 2 end trusses 2 or 4 foot stringers to catch your subsiding without having to add a bunch of nailers. good luck and I'll watch for your posts

Yes, there is at least one that wants to see yet another build.
I find I always learn something from each of them.
I know you said you were doing it "on the cheap" which helps any that are not real high rollers get some ideas.
Don't cut corners on the fundamentals, that you really only get to do at time of construction, like proper foundation, drainage, slab thickness, etc.

I'm interested! I am just getting started myself but using an existing building.
My detached shop just got electricity in the form good power to my box with only 1 circuit currently....got 4 outlets so I can run lights for the cleanup!

I intend to crow about my achievements and ask questions that have been answered a dozen times myself.

Reading all the different builds also motivates my to keep going.
Sometimes we need a little cheering and jeering at our efforts too!

Post it. Have fun!

I'm always interested. All of us here steal ideas that are useful to us from others builds. I'm on the downside of my garage build. It's been about 2 1/2 yrs since starting and I (cheaped out) did most of the work myself. My signature is a link to my build. It is long and has many many pictures...good luck.

Alway's like seeing somebody posting pictures of a build, you know how you picked up idea's, others will be doing the same from yours.

For Hurricane season not supposed to be real active this year, it's off to a running start/ Be thankful it's only a tropical storm although up to 50mph.

I apologize for the previous incoherence. I had guys out in the rain attempting prep for framing in the rain this morning @ 7a.m. They apparently got rained out, and so did I as far as taking pics is concerned. The slab was poured last week, trusses delivered this afternoon. T.S. Beryl was rain very desperately needed, but the timing was inconvenient. Will try to take pics in the a.m. before the crew shows up, or maybe sticks erected after I get home in the p.m. Thx everyone for the kind words and interest.

That's why I'm here - love looking at other peoples ideas and seeing their progress. Live vicariously until I can someday build a garage, and when that happens, I'm gonna post...Till then, I'll enjoy your pics and other's as well.
Cheers.

Cheaping out meant I'll plumb, electrify, and finish the interior. I'm too busy to do it all, and and the offset in cost will be reflected in the future fixing of all of the builder's toys. It is a gable roof, but most of the construction terms you mentioned I'd rather not google. I know how much I'll be in debt when we're done, and have allowed myself to just let his expertise lead the way. i appreciate the love, tho.

sticks up get dic*s up. I have a lot of very personal things going on lately, and they all kind of go away when you walk "inside." I had a chance to snap a photo before the drizzle became a downpour. The recent precipitation is unfortunate, but we need it sooooooo bad. I'd leave this puppy standing like it is if it means we all get some more rain.

Quick update. Trusses hung. All hurricane straps are done. Stucco guy will be by tomorrow to get the kneewall all gussied up. The excitement is sometimes overwhelming. A couple proof of progress pics to follow. This framing crew is a bunch of badasses! They haven't skipped a rainy day yet.

I'm going to give the readers digest version. No one here really appreciates how difficult this has been. Finally I have a day when I dont have to work tomorrow, and can give a little backstory. I should have taken pics before, but didn't. We can work around that with later pics that will hopefully give credence to the whole situation of cluterfuckery. Where this building is used to be woods. We had a 30x12 Handi-house, one of those sheds you have someone deliver on a flatbed. Grew out of it the day it was delivered... Not enough sock, as it were. To cut to the chase, I have a friend who wanted the shed. We did partial trade after I made arrangements for this box to be moved. He'd loan me a bobcat t210 to clear the land. I'd done it all by chainsaw, just needed to push the roots VERY far away. Was a pretty hoss rig, and I figured I had it licked. I do know how to operate heavy machinery from a previous life. Starter solenoid died first day of using. After "engineering" fuel pump relay died. After "engineering" I threw a track while mired up to the cab in sugar sand. They hadn't ever serviced the tracks... in 2000 hours! All you have to do is hit a grease zerk 'till the tension is adequate. Routine maintenance. This was a colossal cloisterflock! Abbreviated, it was a lot of jacks, a lot of creative ingenuity and every prying utensil I owned from work and home to get it back on. The following day I was off, serviced the other track, which was way loose and went at it. The alternator took a **** not an hour after starting this sumbitch. I started to think the world was against me. Called my buddy, told him "Come get this thing NOW!" While loading that evening.......... Guess what, The coupler broke on his gooseneck as a million pounds of bobcat are on the ramp. I hired a professional, charged me $150 and cleared the lot out in two hours, although didn't push the detritus far enough for my taste. May be another "free bobcat" experience in the future.

they did get the stucco done on the kneewall today. If anyone wants a specific picture of something, I can take that. I used to geek out on how people do things, and can understand.
