Does anyone recognize these two tools?

I got two tools in my recent haul that I'm not sure what they are for. First is a strange-looking Mac tools "socket," in 3/8" drive. It shows the MAC name and part number "SC 36." The second one LOOKS like a special wrench for turning water valves on and off at the street. But I've never seen one that is only 18" like this one. Any ideas?

Wingnuts, petcocks. I have a tractor sediment bowl that the socket would work on but be way overkill.

Nobody asked the obvious question. Even if the wrench is slotted at each end for a different size or as a backup, what turns it?
It has no hex boss or any other mechanism for anything to turn it, just a smooth shaft in between the two slotted ends. By the way, the two slotted ends are rotated a bit from each other.

Hi Lump. Been a while!

For those oddball Macs I turn to our friend Internet Archives.
Not much description. Blake was quicker!

Thanks! It has been a while since I was on GJ, and I'm rusty on archives, etc. Do you know what these special GM locking nuts look like?

Can you put a bar in the slot of the opposite end?

To me it seems like some kind of light duty drive shaft.
Now that I know both ends are the same, I agree with you, especially if both ends have the same slot sizing. Might be something like a Venetian blind, very low torque.

Interestingly, the center shaft portion is solid steel; approx 11/16" in diameter

Well there goes that theory. Wanna bust them up before I come up with them? 😉

I didn't think the cups looked very strong at the ends.
