WOW Morio, I started reading this thread about noon today and couldn't stop. Heck just about any compliment I could give you has been said multiple times so lets just say I'm in awe of your project and your family. You're one lucky bunch!. Also being that I've been stuck in SoCal most of my life, it looks like next year the house is going up for sale and we're heading out in your direction. We've been looking in the Canyon Lake area. After seeing what you'll accomplished, I'm gonna share it with the wife. Maybe she might go for some rendition of your plan.

Major congrats and best of luck. I can't wait to see what you end up doing with the whole place!.

Very nice build. I just read through all 27 pages and don't think I saw a single picture of your wife's large scale art. You definitely have the space to display some nice stuff. Could almost make it look like a gallery.

Why concrete for driveway and not asphalt?

Love the polished/sealed floor. Enjoy it all in good health.

That's a lot of concrete for the driveway and apron. (lucky bahstard!)

It looks like plenty of slope, too; does rainwater from all this concrete drain into the collection tanks?

(PS, my entire lot is 50x100! City livin', I tell ya!)

Thanks, we appreciate your compliments. We too are from SoCal, but we moved in the mid 90's to South Carolina and stayed there 10 years and finally settled here in the Austin area (10 years so far) and we love it!! It's a great area. Just a warning, the natives get a little pissy about Californians moving into their state causing all this traffic and making everything so expensive... lol, just like all the Cali natives were saying in the late 70s early 80s...

Thanks! Most of my wife's large art work has sold. As we get all the loose ends settled she will start doing more work. I am hoping sooner than latter because these walls look really bare. I will definitely post her pieces once she gets to work:thumbup:

And why the concrete? I was going to do asphalt but our GC just wouldn't have it (he is mainly a concrete guy), so he got me concrete for the price of doing asphalt. I couldn't pass that up!

Can't say anything more that hasn't been said already. Super nice project. I'm currently living in Drippin', near 12 and Fitzhugh. My shop renovation is starting now so I guess I'll need to start my own thread soon...

Last time I had a look at this thread, I wondered whether your little bloke,

... ever found what he was looking for ??

... But it seems that he did ..

Good to see you have found all your "toys" and have them in their places too ..

Place looks great ... I particularly like the simplicity and practicality, of the one building for everything.

My local beaurocratic bunglers, would have exhausted their red tape supplies - if I tried a build like that .. ..

An awesome place - but ever since I have seen the shots of the vertical space you have in the shop area I have to ask if you have considered getting some pallet racking and a forklift. You have so much potential storage on your walls if you go vertical....

Great to see Dripping Springs on the Cover! You represent us well!

Thanks! I appreciate it! And I am still interested in those tanks you may have up for sell in a couple of months!

Thanks for the compliment! And yes, that is part of the long term plan. I plan to double stack the cars via 4 post lifts in this shop as a "Showroom" and build another Shop (40x60x18) as the "work room" which will have pallet racks, forklift, etc.. This however is 5-7 years off as I need to get my "play" nest egg back up to par!

I've been lurking in these forums for a few years, but this thread about your build has prompted me to register so I can say, Great Job!

Like so many others here, I'm very jealous.

I'm hoping you'll continue to show us how you're equipping and arranging your shop.

Congrats and thanks.

thanks for the kind words!

So the wife and I had our 20th wedding anniversary in May and we didn't get each other gifts because we just built this wonderful home... Well we kinda went out this week and picked up a new toy for ourselves

my new to me 1989 635csi:

And her 2013 VW Beetle:

she wanted a car that was better on mpg and much more fun than the suburban family truckster. So she now has a fun car just for her. The suburban is staying just not being used for every journey she takes.

and I'm a sucker for 80s german coupes.. This one popped up local and is so mint I couldn't pass it up!

Congratulations! She looks to be very happy with her new car and I bet you are with your BMW 635csi. Love the rear spoiler delete on it as well, but please tell me you're gonna change the wheels ;)

lol, yes the wheels have to go. I'm wanting something closer to period correct but in 17" staggered. Thinking BBS 2 or 3 piece. plus it needs a drop and wheels spaced out to line up with fenders. I have issues with proper fitment of wheels

Can we back up a few pages to the Irish whiskey talk? The only thing remotely close that I've tried might be Carolan's Irish cream, how does that compare if at all to these mentioned in the thread. I could sip on Carolan's all day

Exactly what I'm thinking. I bet you'll make it look great (although it's not looking bad now either).

Nice additions to the fleet!

Thanks!! It's such a cruiser! And luckily the wife picked out a color I just don't feel comfortable driving...lol but with the 5spd it's a fun peppy little car!

I love the new shark. Awesome thread and shop.

Thanks! I am a sucker for 80's german cars! And this was one of my favorites as a teenager!

Just wanted to say this is an awesome thread! Your home is amazing! It takes a lot of vision to imagine the final product and make it happen, very cool!

Thank you! It was a lot of work and thought mainly on my wife's part and I am grateful everyday for her.

so I spent Fathers Day in the garage cleaning up my new toy:
just washed and clay bar

Interior work:

paint polished:

Finally all waxed:

and I have this set of BBS style 19s heading my way. I plan to color match the centers, new bolts and high polish the lips. These will also be able to swap faces with style 5s

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Father's Day

Looking good! The car is in great condition, the previous owner(s) must have taken good care of it.

Wonder full car!!!

Thanks! It drives like a couch:lol:

It definitely was cared for... There are some little things I need to take care of but overall it was a descent buy.

Nice score. That looks to be in top notch condition.

Thanks man!! It needs another pass with the DA but for now it'll do:beer:

Nicely done. What wax are you using?

Meguiars 302 and 301, I am thinking of spicing things up a bit and go for some fancy specialty stuff online but Meguiars is just so easy to find and use.

I picked up a couple of these workbenches not anything fancy like some of you guys have but for $45 bucks I thought I would give it a try!

plus I got a small drill press for Father's Day, thanks to my kids!

And I finally got the fittings I needed to install my rapid air kit. That should be done this weekend and then I can adjust my layout in the shop.

And this was from the other day:

we've gotten so much rain it's been fantastic!!

Looks like you made out OK. I'm really interested in your layout and installation of the Rapid Air kit. I'm getting ready to install mine, and curious to how others are doing it. I know my application is a little different than most because I'm dividing between two buildings and have to run one under ground. It will come up through the floor of the big barn, no concrete yet. Northern Tool let me exchange the 1/2" size up to the 3/4", of course I had to spend about $100. to get the oil/water separator. So if you don't mind taking lots of pictures when you do yours I would greatly appreciate it.:)
