Not sure if a double bubble flare is even a thing but that's what it appears like to me. It's on my Jenn-Air gas range. Part number WP74010206 for it is obsolete. A single bubble wont work as the jamb nut threads bottom out before it tightens the line. I have a mastercool flaring tool but this one is kicking my ****. I considered chucking the nut in the lathe and taking off the first two or three threads but I am not sure that will work either. The hex head will probably bottom out then. Am I missing something simple?

Simple? No. Looks like a bubble flare, but with extra depth. Maybe that’s important for guaranteeing that the fitting is gas tight. Can you change / convert whatever this fits in to to some standard fitting?
Great idea but unfortunately I can't. One end goes directly into the regulator.

I wonder if they changed the regulator and have a new pipe that goes with it?
The short piece you have, does it stick out past the nut when installed? If it does, can you find a compression coupler that would fit it and patch the line together? Maybe find another similiar line to do it with? Guessing you already searched ebay? Sometimes you can find a dismantler that has other parts listed for the same model and contact them to see if they have other parts.

I did that. For forming the retaining ring for auto fuel lines. I wouldn’t trust a homemade form with gas.

I checked ebay. You're right, a lot of times you can find what you're looking for. No go on the coupler the line broke right at the manifold from me lifting up the top too many times. 🫤

Would a standard male flare fitting fit into that regulator? If so, maybe a male/male fitting then a single flare with a nut on that?

You might call a shop that does hydraulic lines. The Green Sheilds industrial supply by me does all kinds of fittings.

It has been me experience the if you say the words “gas fitting” in a hydraulic hose shop the next words you will hear are “hell NO”.

Well that may very well be the case. But they may be able to direct him to someone who could.
The range lives. Some may not like my "fix" but it saved me several thousand dollars and it don't leak. I ended up buying a PC of 3/8 ID alum tube to fit over the 3/8 OD tube and sawed off just under an 1/8" long piece. That piece essentially took the place of the second bubble and acted as a spacer. I ran it across a file to flatten it up and take out any inconsistencies then installed it after the jam nut and before I flared the end. Thanks all for the advise.
