What is the value added of a double cut saw? I see adds for them but never any comments about what is so good about the idea of two circular blades over one.

So you plan for a wider cut, but do not have to fight the saw when cutting? Why so small a diameter of blade?

I saw a demo once where they cut a car completely in half, no problem.

Great idea if you ask me.

I always wanted to make a small chop saw out of one , just for small diameter tubing. No sparks, no cutting fluid, small footprint.

I bought a Craftsman one a few years ago. The only time I used it was to cut a fiberglas floor shin out of a boat. It worked great for that, except, that it got so hot, I had to put it down. I returned it.

I've got the HF model. I bought it when the first came out with it a few years ago. While it does work and will cut a lot of different materials with no kickback, it is the most awkward thing to use. Definetly not for precision cuts. Better suited to rough and demo work. I think I used it 3 or 4 times.

I think its a gimmick that you wont see around in a few years. Kinda like the electric hammers everyone was making 10 years ago.

I looked at a Craftsman at Sears. I asked about replacement blades and got a blank look from the salesman. He searched and said ... "It appears we don't sell them". I told him I'd think about it and that was the last that I did.

They're still making them and I have a Ridgid version that works as part of one of those swapable head/motor kits. I don't think it's a gimmick. It has a very specific window of need (nailing something in a tight space) but it works very well. It also nails soft metal nails (like aluminum/brass) without bending them.

My craftsman was a gift that sits on the shelf. I have cut 1/4" plate with it.
Like was said earlier it was awkward to use. It really need a base plate of some kind.
I also cut up and old plastic headboard and the plastic melted between the blades and gummed them up so bad I had to take it apart and spend way too much time cleaning it.

Consumer magic! Probably good for metal if the blades are v configuration. Haven't seen one in a while, know they came out a long time ago though (over 10 years). So if they still exist they probably do something right.
