I suppose they could be used in old square drive ratchets. I have a Walden socket set that cam with a double male extension, it also came with a double female adapter, I have no idea why.

In the old days , some ratchets came with female drives , and you pushed the male drive plug thru and flipped the ratchet over to reverse it . I have a 3/8 and a 1/2 in Cornwell that belonged to my Grandpa, and 3/4 Cornwell from a swap meet that I bought to match them , but it didn't have the drive plug. I guess i'm gonna make one out of 2 3/4 reducers back to back.... I should mention these have a hi tooth count gear , prolly 50-60 , makes them very nice and smooth.

the l shapes i have seen in different configs where they were equal lenghts and offset lengths like a allen key.........either way you could put a regular extension on one end for added leverage.............

I have the same sort of deal.. I have a 1/4" hex L thats male/male but I also have a S/O flex extension thats 1/4" drive male both sides. I'll have to double check the part # but I couldn't figure out what it was for either however I haven't gotten rid of it yet! haha.

The L might be used as a handle for turning sockets, and not meant to be used as an extention.

ok so like an allen wrench there is a speed end and a torque end!

I think a ratchet does both jobs? so it's pretty much useless as long as you have a ratchet:bounce:

I have a 1/2" x 6" double male extension and the double female coupler. I got it with a tool box of tools I bought about 30 years ago. It also had a lot of Walden stuff in it so I quess the extension may be Waldon also I'll have to look.

I would guess you could use the "L" ones like an old fashioned tire wrench and spin it. Or put on two sockets that you tend to use most frequently.

I found this one in an old tool box with a socket just about welded on with old grease.

I would like that double female. I could put it on my double male and have a heck of a long extension.

I like the idea of using an L for spare tires. I have a set of factory bolt-on Daytons on my caddy and you can't get a tire iron in between the spokes. I have to keep socket wrench in the trunk. I'll have to get one of these or talk my dad out of his.

Those are 1930s indestro. They were unmarked at that time.
I have the same one. (without double female unfortunately)
