Pictured below is my undercar/lof tools drawer. I am looking for a deep drawer organizer so that I can separate the chisels, wire brushes, etc. from the rest of the items.

Conceptually I want something similar to the Ernst #5021, but twice the depth (and preferably larger). Does anything like this exist?

A one piece organizer like you would use for kitchen utensils may work. I pick them up at the dollar store and have been pleased with what they offer. This coupled with some other dollar store bins may fill your drawer and help with organization. You should scan the tuppeware isle of the dollar store too. Ultimately you may find a series that has a few different shapes that would match and once nested together work perfectly. Through my experiece look for bins with straight vs tapered sides and small lid flanges.

The top two pictures include a kitchen utensil organizer along with different sized bins from the DollarTree. The utensil organizer is in the bottom left in both of the first two pictures. When the bins don't fill the space perfectly I used foam to help ensure that the bins didin't move around everytime the drawer opened/closed. (bottom 2 pictures).

Let me know if you want detailed dimensions or specific pictures. Hope this helps.

I have a mixture of organizers including the Ernst versions which are great for smaller miscellaneous tools and parts.

For larger Items I buy cheap metal baking trays/roasting pans from Tesco (UK supermarket) I'm sure Walmart would sell something similar. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and very cheap and easy to clean.

I use the same trays/bins as you from Dollar Tree, and they do work great. Unfortunately, I haven’t found Dollar Tree to still be stocking them since purchasing mine about three years ago. At least not at any of the Dollar Trees in my area. Though I bought quite a few of them back then, I could always use more!

I'm up in Canada and the Dollar Trees up here have also been hit and miss. Much like yourself after I learned to appreciate the versatility I purchased a pile of them. Makes it easy at $1 each :giggle:

What a concept! Have one ratchet for each size socket. Why didn't I think of that?

I stopped by a Dollar Tree today for a few items and was shocked to find these on the shelf again. Grabbed 10 of the shorter size and 15 of the longer size. Pretty much cleaned their shelves of these. Haven't seen them for about 3 years or more. Guess I'll keep watching again for them. They're up from a $1.00 to $1.25 now, but what isn't these days.C8CCD974-6826-4D67-8DA1-1C6AC18FFC3D.jpeg

After test fitting to see how well these trays fit a full drawer (amazing fit!), I hit up a few more Dollar Trees yesterday in search of enough trays to completely fill the three wide/thin drawers in one of my 56” US General boxes. I plan on using these drawers for small parts, nuts, bolts, washers, screws, etc… I own a few boxes, so no tool space was harmed in the making of this plan!!! One of my projects this week will be filling them.

BTW, I also discovered these trays can be ordered on Dollar Tree’s website. Smallest quantity is 24 for $30, and they come black or white (I saw white in the stores also), but I don’t see an option on how to choose the color, and I definitely wouldn’t want to end up with them shipping white!

Those are them exactly. I am still amazed at the quality. Robust plastic with the grey textured lining is almost unbelievable for $1.50!!! The following pics showcase a few of the other sizes in the same series from the dollar tree. Hopefully they're still available.

First drawer nearly done. I left two of the trays out for larger related items. Still more room left for adding things as I go. Next drawers will be nuts, bolts, screws, etc...

I had been using HF's trays that come in a three pack, but man those are bulky, and a lot of wasted space around the perimeter of the drawers. They use up a lot of real estate for no larger than their compartments are! These are perfect!

You’ve got a couple of sizes I haven’t seen before. My Dollar Tree stores have only had the two sizes I’ve shown. Maybe they are available on their website? I’ll have to check.

I have attached pictures of the various sizes that I was able to find at our dollar trees here in Canada. I arranged them to provide size perspective. Let me know if you would like exact dimensions.

I have also attached a couple of pictures from my tackle making drawers. I have a hybrid system of these black containers and drawers found in inexpensive HF type bolt organizers. For my tackle making components the dollar tree bins are too big. Certainly Shaller bins would be perfect for small components but with shipping to Canada they were more expensive. The smaller drawers also include the perfect location for identification labels.

I checked DollarTree’s website, and the only three trays still available are the two sizes I have, and the larger rectangular one in you photos. The smaller sizes are not listed. Bummer, but the sizes I have will still work fine for my use. Thanks for the photos and offer on sizes.

I have a TON of those Dollar Tree Essentials bins. I just hit up the 4 DT locations on a regular basis and I can usually find all of the sizes @flippin has shown above.

They are easily worth the $1.25 each. I have been using them to sort all the big bins of bulk tools I have picked up in the last few months.

Dollar Trees product selection is ever evolving. See something you like buy it. Almost guaranteed it won’t be there in 6 months and the sizes will reduce/change to keep the same price point.

Are these bins strong enough to hold really heavy tools like punches, drifts and chisels and such?

Holy Vidmar, Batman.

And here I was blissfully unaware that Vidmar made tackle boxes. Seems like a good way to sink a boat! :)

Inexpensive drawer organizers from Ikea. The Grey utensil organizer sells for $1.29. Too bad the larger ones are only available in white. The white organizers are $1.49, $2.99, and $3.99 for the largest.

If you wind up going with this one, Wal-Mart sells them in larger assorted packs for $5.
Found these on an isle display in Menards when on a visit to Iowa, about a month ago. Again, the larger 16 piece assortment (exactly twice the number of bins as the Amazon assortment). I bought up 10 of the assortment packs, should have gotten more, at only $3.99/pack. I don't believe they are regularly stocked at Menards. I'm mixing them in with the grey $1.29 utensil organizers from Ikea in my map drawer cabinets.

Awesome. Didn't know Menards had them too:

Thanks for posting the link! I just ordered 10 more. Another reason to make the 15 hour drive to Iowa again soon. Wish we had Menards on the east coast.

Holy cow, that is saving big money at Menards!
I have bought those from Amazon Warehouse (now called Amazon Resale) a few times when the prices are reasonably low, but that set from Menards is the best price I've seen by far.
One thing I noticed recently is that some sellers have added some sizes. Most sets have 3 sizes: 1x1, 1x3, and 2x3. Now some sellers have 1x2 and 2x4 sizes available. I ordered a pack, and they are interchangeable.

I'll have to swing by a Dollar Tree to see what they have, those bins look like a great value.
For heavier or pointier items, I use Schaller boxes. They are more expensive, but more durable, available in more sizes, and have straight walls so they have more dense storage. They're available in 3" deep, don't know if that's deep enough to meet your needs. If I need dividers deeper than 3" I just build them out of sheet metal or 1/2" MDF.
Gratuitous Schaller box picture attached of my drill bit drawer.

Just picked up this screwdriver rack from HF, neat, but not as space-saving as I imagined.

Now, the "front-to-back" arrangement won't work with this 12" deep box, which begs my main question (which may need to be it's own thread, but) why not make all tool boxes 16" depth, and do away with 12" depth, especially when most bottom cabinets are at least 18" depth? Restated, when are the 12" deep boxes preferred? (My best guess is in a mobile setup?)

I bought the Menards a few weeks ago when they first showed up, they're down to $2.99/set and they can snap together (see the clips on the sides?). The plastic is a little flexible but I don't care at that price.
