Drill Bit Set 9/16-1"????

Guys I have a need for this size drill bit set so I went shopping on the net.Finding an american made set new will cost 250.00 and thats just way out of my league for those once in while moments or needs.But when that need comes up I want the drill bit to be sharp and work,but the cost.So if you have/had a need for a set of this size what did you go with,links and where's would be nice to know?I did look on the auction site and they run about 50.00 bucks so to me that's kinda an indication of quality unless someone here has pick up a good set of ebay please let me know what you went with?Thanks guys for some guidance.

Amazingly, for me too, but I have not used them a whole lot. Mild steel, drill press, go slow, lots if lube...no problem. We are talking about the Silver & Demming set, right?

Hand drilling is gonna be hard on any bits, and the operator, in that size range. Unibits are a better option if the material is 1/2" thick or less.

Be using them in tail stock and in small mill,so good to hear that HF will work.I have the small set of Norseman bits is fantastic which their 4 piece set is a descent price but the 8 piece is pushing the limits of common sense in my case.

Epstein has a Norseman set for $160 if you don't mind reduced shanks. It's not $60 but it's not $250 either. I haven't used them personally but . . . Norseman's GTG to the best of my knowledge.

Drill Hog sells some nice bits but not all of them are USA made. You have to pay attention to the description.

I bought the cheapest set by 1/32's that I could find on ebay, and they work just fine in my mill, as long as you use conservative speeds and feeds. For the few times a year I need them, they work.
