Drill press cross vice I bought on Craigslist

About a year ago I bought a floor style drill press on Craigslist. the seller brought it down when he moved here from Wisconsin. I learned from others on this site that it is a 1959 Delta Rockwell.

Yesterday a cross vice was on Craigslist so I called the seller for directions.
I went over there and learned the man had it on a Rockwell before he moved to Daytona from Oregon. It is a Jacobs brand made in China. I don't know how old it is. The x and y ways have adjustible "true-ing" screws and lock nuts. Each axial movement can locked with a thumb screw. My fingers point to those screws .

I've got $100 in the drill press and $29 in the cross vise. Any information about the vise is appreciated like the age. I have no idea how much a similar cross vise costs new.

The vise is typical Chinese. I have one just like it I bought about 14 years ago from the local farm store. The only difference is mine is black.

The basic chicom vise is sorta usable after it's tuned up. The real weakness is the cast shitmetal handles. Those on the one I tried break if sneezed upon.

Nice drill press, especially for $100

Did you just admit to owning a Chinese machine tool accessory? A_P, I'm a little shocked. :lol_hitti

Aye!

A long time ago in a place far, far away I even tried milling aluminum with a chicom benchtop "drill press" using that very cross slide vise.

It ended miserably.

Of course none of the mounting holes on the vise match the slots in the drill press. I'll make a mounting plate. I'm not going to drill and tap holes in the table.

The handles are just that...no indexed .001s like a Bridgeport

Jack Vines sent the serial no. code on this blog about after I bought it. Maybe some of you want to capture this Ser. No. info chart which can be found on here:
