Hey guys. I have been lurking around for a few years now and finally getting around to posting.

I'm two years into my first garage and it's still a mess.

However when my wife's grandfather passed he left me his large drill press. I really want to put it on a stand. After all squatting to run it is lame!

Can yall point me in the right direction of a high quality stand that won't require me to rework the budget?

The drill is a Grand Rapids Industrial Tool model 50210.

Thanks!b5892472fe718cc173463665dfe7d3d9.jpg

My short drill press is mounted on top of the bottom half of a HF rolling tool chest. Next to it is a dremel drill press. In the cabinet drawers are all the bits, hole saws, cutting oil etc that I might use for both.

Before I had the HF chest it was mounted on a wooden 2 drawer file cabinet and all of that was mounted on a footlocker to bring it up to appropriate height.

If my server wasn't down right this minute, I'd post a pic.

You always need a lot of bits n' stuff to go with a drill press.

Great White, I have a heavy duty table with the same legs as yours on the left hand side of your picture.

Any idea what brand it is?

Castle Bravo, I have had that table 20 years and I could not tell you the brand. I do know that there are a lot of these tables out there.. new and old.

Just go to Home Depot and whip something up with a couple 2x4s, or nicer wood if you prefer. The other option would be cruise CL and find something that would work or easy to modify to work.

Thanks guys.
I'm looking for a sturdy metal stand. Either a pedestal or like the one on the left of Crewchief888's photo.

You can see mine here. Free, old microwave cabinet with some drill related storage space underneath. I did the same for my grinder.

Skids, old cassette storage drawer, metal two shelf printer stand, I brought a chunk of formica counter top . I will get a picture of the finished product from my dad apparently before I headed home from vacation I forgot to take a picture of the completed stand.

i got that same drill, same exact drill but different brand name. most Japanese are copys of other equipment like delta. you can go to sears get the model number of the copy and get a replacement post from sears parts.

I don't think I've ever seen one of those from Japan. Most are Chi-com some are Taiwan. I wouldn't be surprised to see then from other Asian continent countries, but really doubt a Japanese copy.

Back to the OP: For a stand, if you can get a B&D WorkMate Mod 2XX or higher, that would do the trick also.

Wilco. Brownbagg you have the same as mine? Yeah it's a Chinese piece but it seems to be ok. It was free so how can I object to the origin ya know. I think it was made in 1994 and has never been used.

I need to post on the Lyon table I mentioned. Is there a thread for that?

Myself Id convert to floor stand IF 3" column. Must be a million of these presses under various brand names and models. Mine an HF circa 1994. Ive used this to replace spring cap assy, chuck and key etc. Short of finding a non working drill..
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/craftsman-drill-parts/model-137229171/0247/0713080/P0308017/00001.html

Column (3.15OD) assy and the rack still available. ~$130
But a nice table would work. Seems a smaller drill, depending on what to be used for would be better as bench model.
Seen a few on this forum due some amazing stands with mdf

I've owned a couple of Delta DPs on their rolling stand and never found them to be an advantage. If it's a benchtop DP, I bolt it on a bench.

Here's mine. Kinda' crude, and I could have made it a little fancier, but I had to whip it up in a hurry...
