It's here! I ordered it last Monday and it was on dock this past Wednesday. it came a lot sooner than I expected. That big plastic wrapped boxy thing in teh back of my truck is a Dannmar MaxJax 2 post lift.

Borrowed First350's BFH (Big F***** Hoist) to get it off the bed of the truck.

Took First350 and I about 20 minutes to get it off the truck and onto the garage floor. It was the single heaviest item that either of us have ever attempted to move w/ an engine hoist. Was pretty fun thing to do and it went smoothly.

Hopefully I can get a hold of a 7/8" masonary drill bit. So far I haven't been able to find anyone locally for under $95. I'll call around some more tomorrow. If I can get enough room cleared in the garage, I'll unwrap it tomorrow evening and possibly install it this weekend. Big thanks again First350, my running tab on favors is probably at the limit, no?

Just go rent a rotory hammer with the 7/8" bit.

^ Gotcha. I happen to have a SDS rotory hammer and a hammer drill too. Should make quick work of drilling the holes. I was able to find a 7/8th bit at a local hardware store for $36. I know that you can rent the bits from Home Depot, but since my availability to work on the garage is limited, it's much more convenient having the tools here ready to go whenever I am. I may pick up an extra set of anchors so I can put the lift in different locations but that plan is TBD.

The build is sorta slowed down until some things around the house get finished first. I'm hoping to get to the lift this weekend if I get a chance. Still need to clear out the space where it will go.

So First350 came over today to help me move a couch upstairs. I was really ambitious today and moved the couch myself. You know.... cuz I soooooo love moving large pieces of furniture up stairs.

So instead we headed out to the garage and FINALLY unpacked the MaxJax.

Other than getting the wheels on the posts so we could move them around, that's about all the assembly we could do, still too many boxes and things on the floor. Maybe this weekend I'll ever get the opportunity to install it. Yeah its taking a while to get the garage in order, but I think over the next few weeks I should have more free time to get things in order.

While I was out in the garage I figured while I was on a role I should put up some slat wall.

My bench, like the rest of my garage is a big disorganized mess right now. I'll need some more fixtures to bring some order to it. Next thing I need to tackle is the need for some wall shelving.

Today has been a productive day. I've been able to get more stuff off the floor and stored properly.

First off, I finally got things organized so I can do some work on my bench. Power strip is in place, stuff is sorted in the drawers and the tool chest next to it.

Then I hung some wire wall shelving. Mounted it up high so it take advantage of the unused space above my drill press and lathe.

Lastly, I was able to get my go kart hung. As small as a kart is, it takes up a significant amount of floor space in a garage. Getting it off far off the ground helps free up a lot of room.

Hanging the kart was a lot of work. I pretty much called it quits for the day after that. I still have the smaller Minimoto kart to hang, but I don't think that will be as tough as the sprint kart.

It's been a while since I've posted to this thread. But I'm happy to say I finally got the Max Jax installed and I'll be putting it to good use:

The garage is still quite a mess. I need more wall shelving to store everything. I just finished a driveway extension last weekend and now I have to build a shed so can finally move out a lot of the stuff taking up floorspace in the garage.

Your garage is RAD!! Really nice looking house too! Looks like you've accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. Kinda envious of your car, we're hoping to buy one real soon, such a blast to drive!

Are you referring to the Z? Yeah, it's a great car. In stock form it's decent, but once you start modding it, it's performance jumps drastically from what I've noticed. The most drastic improvement is going from a VLSD to a clutch-type (OS Giken Superlock) LSD. Next to R-comp tires, it's the fastest mod that can be done IMO, w/ the exception of FI. But that's too skurry for me to try.... yet.

nice job, i do have one concern though and i'm not even sure its legal, your furnace is in your garage, there is a high chance of you spreading car gasses through your house, am i wrong ?

I didn't notice anything I didn't like on either the G35 or the 350Z we test drove about a month ago, but I didn't drive either of them very hard since it was just a test drive.

The home's air and the air in the garage are kept separate in homes built today. As for running the car in the garage I usually leave the door open for that at times in the winter I've used a flex hose and left the door open just enough at the bottom to run it out but not in this garage and not w/ this car (2 tail pipes).

lol... fast is a relative term, but thanks. I picked up the MaxJax over a month ago. Should'a been up soon after. Garage will still be a mess until I get a shed built and move a lot of stuff out.

I'm working on her right now, she's got her 6V power wheel and is still trying to figure out how to make it go where she wants it to. Once she's got that down, I have a 36V mini-moto kart for her.

i understand that there is a fresh air intake for the furnace that pulls air from outside, but if you develop the smallest leak in any of that piping you have the chance of pulling in gasses, just be safe!

Yep, we have a unit in the attic above our laundry room that does just that. Originally I thought it was pumping air out of the house and contacted the builder and he explained what it was and what it did.

Still working on getting everything stored away. Been tossing out and giving away a lot of stuff over the past few weeks. It feels good to 'purge' though.

Put up a shelf next to the bench for some stuff. I'll probably be putting up more similar shelving and brackets as I finalize things.

Picked up some more wire shelving, this is not rated for as heavy stuff since it's closet shelving, but I don't plan on putting anything heavy up there since it takes a ladder to get items up there.

Seemed fitting to hang "my assistant's" car next to mine.

Access to some power in the middle of the garage w/o having to worry about running a cord to on of the walls. Garage opener is also on a different circuit than the wall outlets so I figure I'd take advantage of that. Another 20 amps at my disposal.

One of 2 fire extinguishers, the smaller of the two. The other one will be near the welding station whenever I get around to setting that up.

Hey awesome! Congrats! The wife and I are having our 2nd kid this August (gender TBD). Yep, gonna have to find room to hang another power wheels on the wall somewhere.

LOL... That's funny that we both have the same stereo from years back. I got it as a graduation gift to myself after high school ('bout 19 years ago). Still works so I still use it, meets all my needs in the garage. When you think about it, 19/20 years of use out of an electronic device is really quite extraordinary.

I got the shed up earlier last week. I'm pretty impressed w/ it, modest size (8' x 10') but it came together pretty well and didn't seem to be effected by a wind storm we had last week that blew down fences and knocked down trees in my neighborhood. I'm currently in the process of working out shelving and moving things out to it.

I finally got around to cleaning the car. It's Been about half a year since I washed it last. Turns out there was a decent looking car under all that dirt after all.

Most of the work that involves stuff that could fall on unsuspecting visitors and or trip hazards in my garage have all been taken care of so it's safe to let the assistant back in. She seemed pretty happy w/ the way it turned out and was happy w/ all the hard work she put into it. The days are longer now and it's getting warmer, as soon as it drys out a bit I plan to put her to work landscaping.
