I have a good one.....
I was working on a flap drive system on a Dehav Dash-8 aircraft one day at work and I was on a large wing stand that is placed beneath the wings. I was behind the wing working on the wiring in the trailing edge. The wing stand allows you really comfortable access to the leading edges, trailing edges, flaps, etc and you're about 7-8 feet up off the floor when you're on it. It's a high wing designed aircraft so it's a must when doing any large maintenance checks on this aircraft.
Anyways, a couple guys were on a man-lift working on the inboard side of the #2 engine......about 7-8 feet off the ground. They were towards the front of the engine, close to the rear of the prop...nowhere near me really, when one of them dropped a socket. I heard them fussing about trying to find this socket and it was getting pretty funny listening to them trying to locate it.
So about 5 min later, I looked down near me and I saw a shallow socket near my feet. I was so far away from them and also at about the same height as them that I just assumed it was someone else s so I picked it up and put it in my pocket. Then I heard one of them mention the size they were missing when someone else came over to help them out and it was the same size.
I thought to myself....."it couldn't be, they dropped it straight down 7 feet to the hangar floor nowhere near me". I hollered down to them......."was it a 7/16" Snap On shallow?" They said "yes". I said "well I found it up here".......
They looked at me with what I would describe as rage. I think they were assuming I was playing some kind of cruel trick on them because if you looked at the situation, it was damn near impossible for this socket to end up where it was. I gave it right back to them but honestly I don't think those two guys ever believed me. They were looking at me with those accusatory eyes and I really don't think they believe me to this day.
