Thanks ODIS, likely the kindest comment i've ever received.

Hahaha thank you sir. Thought it was time to pay it back and it turns out it was a good thing i did.

It's a great blank canvas to make your own... Congrats on the elbow room!

Man is that ever true. Strange being able to still have a car in there and work on a project.

any updates to the theater build? curious to see!

Well its functional now lol... Just some minor tweaks and some improvements to the space.

Made some significant progress today. Painted the entire garage with its first coat, which included the stairs. I'm also half way done painting the cement footer as well. I'm hoping to be able to finish both tomorrow. I'll get some pics loaded up in the next day or so. Just relaxing with a Corona now

When all of that garage and lawn projects were done for the day I washed the cars for the first time in the new space. Sooo nice not to be cramped now while washing my cars, a real treat. This motivates me even more to get the garage set-up to make the experiences even more pleasurable.

Nice job on using two buckets. Is that a Gilmore foam gun lying there?

You will enjoy having all that space to work.

The space is amazing no doubt. Its actually a Chemical Guys foam gun, works not badly actually and was super cheap. I also use a third bucket (the red one) for my wheels.

Looking forward to seeing photos of your paint work. Definitely an integral step to making a place look finished.

Ever since i really got into garages and creating a space of my own i've wanted a solid workbench. Well i think i've finally realized that vision. I've only ever had a work surface in the past as space was always at a premium. I've been doing a ton of research and playing with sizing and specs for several months and i finally closed on one last night as it was $50 off.

Its a really solid piece and being around $80 cheaper then the Gladiator one that i was also eyeing made it the right one. My plan was to have my little craftsman chest roll under it, and to my surprise the actual metal surface is identical. I'll post a better quality pic later but these will have to do for now.

Just playing around with the placement....

The hose bib presented a little hiccup in my vision as it was originally where i had wanted a tool box but i think having my table there with the open portion for my stool will make it perfectly functional for my needs.

And this side shows you the current bane of my existence.

Dub, That bench looks just like the Seville HD version I have in my garage. I have two of them in my garage. Great bench! The garage is going to be great......

Man oh man that was a lot of painting. Two days straight! Almost a 12 hour shift today.

Thank you sir. I love the look, feel and price of it.

Awesome show on that I've been waiting to watch for a few days. "Mike's Ultimate Garage" on HGTV. Mike Holmes had his son Mike Jr. complete his dream garage. Pretty epic thus far.

Just finished watching the show. I don't know, that was a pretty big building for a narrow tandem with two lifts. Amazing building, but he's going to be cursing himself for the way it was laid out. IMHO.

Glad to see you caught it Rick. I think your comment is completely accurate; I'm in awe of all the technology and size but for actual car storage its just a single tandem. I would like to see the specs as there are garage doors on 3 sides and i can't get my head around one of the sides.

Well as mentioned above, I pretty much spent the weekend in the garage. Home Depot had a nice long-weekend special price on their Behr and CIL paints of $7 off a can. Well I'm $21 richer now :) Also snagged a ladder on Saturday morning at 40% at good old CT. Very happy with this one, a Featherlite 8 foot ladder. I figured this height was perfect for me as i can reach all i will need to and i can still store it in the shed. I've already got way more use out of it then i had anticipated, not sure how i figured i would get on without it.

EDIT: Added paint info as others have asked

Behr Int Eggshell Enml in Lunar Surface N460-3

Finally got this ****** off. You can see my Cujo type remnants lol...

Here's a quick "before shot" where the cables came through the support beam of the previous owner's shelving system. You can see them feeding through the beam just above and a bit to the left of the garbage can.

And now it looks like this.

And onto the painting...

Posting up some in progress pics. I was too tired last night to go back in with my nicer camera; aim to do that after work today.

The stairs turned out really nice.

Again in this garage i opted to use CIL Smart 3 Ultra Premium exterior paint with primer which is meant for masonry, siding, and cement. Can states that it is 'Triple Weather Protection'.

I hadn't initially planned on painting the gas line but it was so nasty looking and i had a ton of extra paint that worked great for the surface, i figured what the heck. I'm happy i took the plunge, hard to tell in the pics but its literally a night and day improvement.

This corner was also an eye sore with all of the cables feeding through. The paint, and newly mounted zipties, along with my cabinetry will mitigate it completely.

Another stop to Home Depot on my way home to grab some black caulking for the edges of where the foundations meet the drywall and some black zip ties, ran out!

Looks wicked thus far! I'm amped to see full garage shots.

Cheers! Got a few more details done tonight and placed the big pieces back in their places. I'm getting so excited its crazy. Also I found the perfect spot to store my huge jack, pretty happy as i wasn't sure where it was going to go. I'll get a couple pics up tomorrow. Huge space saver.

I saw a picture with your jack in your other thread and I had a few questions :
Is it a Torin?
How do you like it so far?
Where did you bought it?

Nice progress so far btw

Dubbed,
NOT a criticism but why paint the gas line and that box black? It draws attention to them instead of making them recede from the eye like matching the wall color would?

I used to have a Torin but i needed something that made it easier to jack up my low GLI. I now have a Michelin low profile, high lift jack. It has a 2 ton capacity and the main selling feature was that it can go from 2" to 24" in total lifting height incredible! Its awesome but it is pretty big. It from Canadian Tire.

Here's a pic of it actually, was working on its new home last night. Fits great under the stairs, although i did have to take a 1" wedge out of it to get it in far enough. Shots are pre-wedge cut :)

No worries, like anything else, tastes differ. I personally think its 10x better, might just be one of those things that you had to see in person. It was an eye sore, and it will just flow with the space. Luckily its also on the side of the garage where there will almost always be a car parked as well.

I'm toying with some ideas :)

I haven't looked for them in a loong time but you used to be able to go to an art supply store and buy rub on transfer letters in various sizes from tiny to pretty large and at least in black and white. White ones could be used to label it "CAUTION - Gas Line"

But nowadays with all the various gadgets you could probably do more or less the same thing with a Brother P-Touch labeler.

Wasted a few hours puttering around the garage with a tiny paint brush just correcting little areas missed, overall i'm liking how the painting turned out. When i first started it was looking kinda baby blue but once the second coat went on and it dried thankfully to the grey i was wanting.

Also did this for the first time since the night we took possession. Damn my mk6 is a good foot plus longer than my mk4. Granted after this shot i easily moved the mk4 over closer to the wall and the mk6 isn't as far as it could be to the rear door. Think i had a foot or more.

This really gave me a good sense of my spacing in there as all my bulky items are now in their places.

hahaha, no date as of now. The door changes will likely eat away at my immediate fun spending. TBD at this point, but it is in the cards.

Just pushing your buttons...Great work! I check this thread for updates about 20 times a day. I love how clean and organized everything looks. I am thinking of starting my own build thread, and posting pictures, just so you can comment and help me get organized. Keep up the good work!

Thanks dude. You should definitely start up a thread once your project is under way. I'm static, sitting on ST coils right now. Love that dumped Q you posted in Rick's thread btw.

I started my thread a week ago or something but still a week till we get the keys (rent back with previous owners).. can it be next week already. Haha.

Most likely picking up some used Racedeck of CL if seller accepts my price.

Sweet! I was actually scheduled for ST's next week but had to postpone it.. new suspension vs. garage fixing

Right now my Avant looks like a 4x4 - how do you like the ST's? My biggest fear is that I will scrap on anything.
