Thanks for checking! I searched Ikea's website without luck. It seems now they only have paper or plastic containers (at least here in the US)... :(

It's hard to find just the right size container for the trackwall shelf!

I've noticed that Ikea sometimes has stuff in the stores, that I don't find online...worth a trip to Ikea.. Or do as I did and eliminate the recycling, one less bin in my garage :D

Very true, much like most companies though, especially Home Depot and Costco. Ikea also has that great AS IS section which i always make sure to check out when i'm there.

Just browsing through Best Buy's Boxing day preview flyer and i found this thing....

Anyone have this or any experience with them?

Down the line i am wanting (dreaming) of putting in a Liftmaster 8500 which can add some of these capabilities with their own options.

I don't have that specifically, but my wife has left the garage open a few times so I bought an autocloser off amazon for $40 that closes the door automatically after 5 mins. I don't need to be able to open/close remotely.

Always my biggest fear. Luckily it hasn't happened yet, but my own doubt has lead to countless double checking. So what happens if you are out on your driveway and you have opened the door and you don't want it to auto close?

There is an interrupt button you push on your wall mounted near your regular opener.

It's a nice neat little unit, and their support line is super helpful.

I have one of these for my main door to my garage. Works really well, though I do not use it for an "auto close" function as my Chamberlain opener has this already built in if I need to use it. I use it mainly with the app for my iPhone. It sends me alerts when the door opens, closes, or stays open during my per-determined times of the day. My wife actually gets creeped out sometimes when I call home and to see why she’s home, when she should be working lol. But there have been times when she is leaving for work, or late at night she just leaves the door open. One click on the app and the door closes. The light on the device actually flashes like a strobe light and beeps before the door closes to notify you someone has activated the remote close.

Some people don't get it, but I do like to keep an eye on the garage when I'm not around so I added another level of surveillance which my wife really gets creeped out about cause she feels like someone is always watching. By the way... they are :)

/\ Nice thanks for the input!

Love the "checking up on the wife" thing. I'm also considering the Nest DropCam for inside so that i can freak my dog out when i catch her on the couch.

Your garage looks sweet, do you have a thread set-up somewhere?

Dubber, I'm currently looking at buying a toolbox and I'm deciding between the Homak, that you have or Husky 26 in one. Husky is $100 cheaper though. I don't mind paying a bit more since toolbox is not something you buy often. What is your opinion? You've had Husky before.

I've looked at the DropCams as well since I also have the nest, but the price was overkill when at first all I needed was a simple one for a "baby cam" for my little girl's room. The Dlink series fit the bill for a simple baby cam, other smaller ones around the house, and the larger one in the garage. I can view them all from one app (but still need a second app for the nest). Here is a screen shot from the garage cam.

And no, no build page yet, though I have been gathering and organizing all the pictures with that in mind. I've been secretly stalking your builds since before your single so I got a lot of ideas as I went along. Hopefully I get something together soon.

As always, I do enjoy seeing ypur garage and all its glory!

Dubber - man, your going to get me in trouble.

Looking into that MyQ setup - and that there is no monthly service charge or any of that ****. I might have to order one on my new house/shop! Ugh!

If i had to make the choice again i would make the same one and i'll tell you why. Its true that i had a Husky box before but it was a higher range item then the combo Husky boxes available at home depot right now. One of the things that initially clinched it for me is the Homak has more drawers and is taller. Once i bought it and was moving it around i started to feel the weight of it, more substance then the Husky ones. A couple things that aren't great though is the need for 3 separate keys and the smell from the drawer liners. I had read that it will be strong and boy was it ever. It has luckily dissipated at this point but initially it was very strong. For my space though i really had to minimize the foot print and maximize the height, this fit the bill perfectly. One tip is that you will need an SUV or truck for sure, I had used a VW Golf to pick up old husky piece and that wouldn't have been possible this time. These completely filled a Mazda Tribute, not an inch to spare. And make sure you have a second person with you!

If you have the extra $100 to throw at this then chose the Homak its worth it. If not, the husky will serve its purpose without issue I'm sure.

I knew i would enjoy another pic. Definitely put a thread together i'm sure your place will help to inspire others.

Thanks for the comments on my two projects, very kind. Nice to hear that you have been following the evolution. I love this site, and the atmosphere it creates.

lol, sorry man..... I do like toys and technology and i know i'm for sure not alone. I'm going to go ahead and say you NEED it :)

Speaking of toys; unwrapped this bad boy last night. I'm sure a few of you will remember these. I found it online a few weeks ago and it seems my subtle hints to wifey paid off :) I had this same model as a kid and man did we ever spend hours playing it. I assume during the summer it will make its way into the garage when i have some buddies over. For now its a fun addition to the basement. They are all lining up since I put the word out, hahaha. My brother in law is going to be my first victim tonight ;)

I picked up a 2001 Ford Expedition in May for camping and house projects. So I have it covered in the SUV department. [emoji3]

My Platinum Grey Brother! I do like the look of the 4 mo lip, which would give me better ground clearance at the front.

It was the reiger 4 motion so it was a little deeper. I always loved that one. If I still had it I would have molded it into the bumper better. Also those retro fits were one of my favorite things. Took e-codes and retro fitted Acura TL bi-xenons into them. I think they were the 2nd or 3rd pair ever into a mkiv. Showing my age there. Been thru now a mkv gti, mkv Wolfsburg, and onto my mkvi GTI now.

I love the wheels you went with too. I was looking at those before I picked up my alphards.

No problem man, and yes you are ready for pick-up!

Sweet! Yes the headlights on a mk4 are their Achilles heel no doubt.

hey dubber, did you do anything with your basement home theater?!

Still a work in progress. Can't decide what i want to do down there. In the house i'm always more hesitant jumping on an idea. I've got the basics down but still going to do something with the floor and walls.

Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year!

I love how seeing how the floor seemed to absorb all of that snow overnight! I think having the compressor inbetween the boxes and the workbench would be best. I don't think you'll have a problem finding a hose that will stretch across the overall size of the garage.

Badass Dubber! Just read the whole thread.

Maybe I missed the dimensions. how big is the garage?

Hahaha, thanks man. Its actually in my first post ;) Basically 19x20. Far from big but its great for me at this stage.

I'm thinking thats the spot i will go with as well. Just thinking about what i would want to do with a cord reel. Likely mount to the wall above.

Another amazing Christmas has come and gone. Again we were very fortunate to have family to spend it with and tons of great memories. Lucked out in the gift department as well; seems my family really knows what i'm into haha.

Scored a couple more shop lights! Now I'm really set: 16 T8 bulbs and 4 100watt cfl's.

These things are awesome. Something i've been meaning to get for awhile now. Just have to pick up a couple more sets :)

Can't wait to use this little bad boy. A ton of power from this little guy. I was laughing after i set it down on the ground, i put it on its side for a sec and it started spinning around like crazy hahaha.

Boxing day was a success as well. Nothing crazy but i did take advantage of some savings and picked up a set-up for the garage. A 32" LED tv and wall mount.

This was probably the best gift i ever could have hoped for. Mom knows best!

TV looks good. Is that a block wall? Have you seen these?

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/6-tube+fluorescent+fixture.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=

Lighting is not my thing. I'm sure Griot is repackaging them. I may order one to see if it's any better than a typical light. $300 x 4 or 6 of them gets a little expensive.

Another question since you've been more active on this forum. I hate to offend, but 99% of the garages on here on complete junk. Guys are so darn tacky. How in the world do some of these threads have millions of views? This forum has so much potential and there are literally like 5 garages on this entire forum that I've seen that look remotely interesting to me. What am I missing?

Luckily i don't have to deal with any block walls in my garage. Those lights look awesome but damn they are expensive. I'm a fan of these ones for a few reasons; price is great, at only about $50 each. 4 bulbs is another bonus. The other plus is that they are expandable and can be joined up to others. For us Canadians ordering from Griots directly can be pretty pricey which often means i don't bother.

So where does my garage fit in? :)

I think the great thing about this site is that it can appeal to anyone. There are builds from around the world that focus on singles (like my first) and they range all the way up to huge pole barn buildings and warehouses. Tons of great resources are shared and the overall feel of the forum is very positive and encouraging.

I think your garage fits in at the top for practicality and usefulness.

There are different categories as you mentioned and considering your residential atmosphere your garage is at the top.

I was impressed with "dubber's single", and it looks like the quality of work is continuing with "dubber's double". I like the Mini, why'd you get rid of it?

Honored, thanks for the kind words.

Thanks man. Would love to still have the mini as part of my current assortment but it was the right decision at the time. I wanted to sell it and use the proceeds to clear all of my debt to start saving for our first home.

I had a buddy with a blue JCW MINI at the time and it was awesome going out for a cruise together. Also loved how only $300 in mods on the base model made it a fun unique ride. Had a friend tint the windows, sourced the clear markers for cheap and had another buddy who works with Vinyl decals do the hood stripes and mirrors.

Looking good ! I see your watching Dragon's Den ahahha !

Love that show! Do you watch it? I sometimes watch the spinoff (Shark Tank) but i do prefer the original.

I had to go look up what that Sidedkick thing was. Interesting, I guess. Why wouldn't my Toro electric leaf blower that (supposedly) blows 235mph work for the same purpose?

Not criticizing, I just wonder if this isn't a gimmicky thing that someone convinces themselves they just MUST have? I had to laugh at the related listing on Amazon for this thing's "big brother." $450(!!!) to blow off your car? I don't get why anyone would feel they have to have that.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Well for one it is about 1/5th the overall size including the attachments of a leaf blower. In my application i also don't need and don't already have a leaf blower. I'll try and post up a pic with something to get a perspective of the size. Extremely small and nimble. These are very useful tools to get water off the car when cleaning.

I completely agree on the pricing of the Master blaster; out of my range.

Well you also don't want to to use a leaf blower out in the yard then use it on a car, seeing that it can blow at over 150mph, if stuck dirt let's loose, hello paint chips!

The leaf blower idea can also work but as was mentioned you would want to be careful about blowing any previous dirt picked up. I have an electric leaf blower that was never used much in the yard (have gas powered for that work now) that I now dedicate to blowing off my motorcycle after washing. But I admit its just my poor mans version of the purpose built blower. It does the job ok and I have it already but is bigger and bulkier than the one dubber shows. I see these blowers advertised under different brand names and a lot for the motorcycle industry. It's a great way to quickly clear off water from chrome and paint without leaving water spots and, air can get into all the small places that a towel cannot.
Someday I would like to have one of those Blaster blowers just because its smaller to handle and has the more useful shaped nozzle than my old leaf blower. You will like it a lot when detailing your vehicles.
