Nice score, Dub-man! What's the first thing you are going to do with it?

Thanks Rick. I had amassed a few Home Depot gift cards and combined with a sale i was very happy. It was funny i had been checking their site daily, and a couple of weeks ago their price jumped back up by $70 which scared me. I had good luck though in the past with their website price being raised before they bothered to change the in-store price. When i grabbed it last night it actually scanned at the higher price but they hadn't yet updated the shelf tag, Score!

That's a great question though, I'm not really sure. I'm thinking once i get all the pieces i want it will be just using it to take off a wheel to swap spacers. Waiting on the impact wrench i want to go on sale, along with longer wheel bolts and my Schwaben protecta socket kit. I'm really excited to do wheel swaps this spring in the garage as it is now and with the tools i'll have at that point. #garagebliss

That's how I got my 60 gallon Husky.
Gift cards, a good sale one week, and another deal where with any flooring purchase over $100 you'd get back 10% of your purchase in HD gift cards.
It was almost free. :D

I was pumped about performing wheel swaps with the impact, but I find myself using the old fashioned methods more times than not. Still, I know you'll find lots of uses for the compressor as time goes on. You'll have to start building an arsenal of Tornador pneumatic tools soon!

Unwrapped the beauty this afternoon. Love it and fits perfect! Small hick-up though, it kept tripping the breaker for the circuit i had it connected to. After the initial frustration left and clearer heads prevailed, i called up my electrician buddy. He will be here on Wednesday upgrading my circuits from 15 amp to 20 amp.

And check out this nastiness. We are in the midst of a cold snap, gotta clean this thing ASAP!

If you have an electrician buddy and your panel is easily accessible and in your garage, have him run a separate outlet for the compressor if you have space.

I did and don't regret it at all.

That is a good idea that i had been contemplating.

Calcium chloride is the nastiest stuff on the planet!

Hate it! Spent Sunday cleaning her up again. Only to get destroyed again on my way to work this morning

I'm getting ideas for my simple garage makeover, and I'll definitely be referencing your work when I make my design choices. Nice job.

Thanks for the compliment, i'm honored

Looking forward to reading a review of the compressor once you get a chance to start using it! Looks good there though!

Me too! hahaha. I compared 5 models in my rough price range and this one has the best specs. I also received some real world recommendations from a couple users on this forum who already have it which was a solid bonus.

Looking awesome Dub :) One of my favorite compressor mods is to replace the silly drain they install, and replace it with a 90 degree fitting, and valve. This article covers it: http://www.hammerzone.com/archives/workshop/compressor/drain/ball_valve.htm

If you do this, use brass fittings instead of black iron. Empty it every time you use it as water will accumulate quickly in the tank. Because your floor is so nice, you may want to add a hose to direct the water from your drain as you may get rust staining. You'll see what I mean when you drain it :)

Thanks! Yea i noticed it was super awkward to access. That really seems like a great idea, and the beauty of this floor design is that it can just spill out, flow through the floor tiles and out the garage.

That looks like a cool little toy. I'm interested to hear more about it.

Very cool! For me it will be a fun accessory but it will also give me some peace of mind. Would have loved to have had it last week when we were in St-Lucia. Always one of my big worries is having the garage door wide open while I'm not home. Also curious about the potential of expandability and might add a light switch and or plug for indoor lights.

I installed one this weekend. Only took a few minutes to complete. No more worrying "Did I close the garage door???" when you've away from home. The app also has a time on the status so you know when the door was closed (or how long the kids have left it open).

Great to hear, I appreciate the review.

Nice Dewalt compressor. One of the nicer medium sized ones available. I need one in black or white. :D

Thanks man. A buddy had suggested Plasti Dip if i needed it to fit my colour palate but I actually like the yellow.

Another small upgrade complete, not a visible one but its great having my circuits now upgraded from 15amp to 20amp. Hopefully i'm good for a bit, but i'm sure it won't be his last visit to my garage :)

Snapped a quick pic of the crisp-air retractable cord reel once i had it out of the box. Just starting to plan the mounting, hopefully get it up this weekend.

And almost forgot to mention, it was great powering up the DeWalt without tripping anything hahaha. Its alive!

Dubber, great place and cars. Just curious, how was your electricity upgraded to 20A. I don't see any holes in the wall.

I must admit, I was wondering the same thing. I'm no sparkie, but my understanding was the wire needed to be upgraded as well. My guy ran a whole new line to the box from the new outlet. Can I just install new 20A breakers for the existing outlets?

As long as the wire is rated for 20amps you can swap breakers and outlets. At least that is my understanding.

If your wire is 14 gauge you CANNOT put a 20 amps breaker ... With that said it's not a super big problem as your compressor will not run 24/7 ... But still violating electrical code. We all know 99.9% of the time you will not run into problems with a 20amps breaker on a 14awg wire but if something would happen your insurance your freak out if a fire occurs.

That's why I shared with you to have a dedicated 15 amps breaker for this compressor.

If you have a 12 gauge wire then you are ok with code.

The vast majority of the wire in your house is 14/2 rated at 15A. To go to 20A you need 12/2 which is a lot more expensive and no one installs this just in case. You cannot simply upgrade 14/2 wire to 20A, any electrician doing this should have his license revoked. As someone mentioned, you wouldn't want your insurance to be denied in case of a fire. Here is my big problem with this, that Dewalt blew a 15A that means it is running border line 15A or more. If you had a 14/2 with a 20A breaker and your load was just a few amps it would still not be legal but you would never see issues, this set up will be pushing the wire rating regularly. Dubber, for your own safety and that of your family, please return the breakers to 15A and run a separate 20A, 12/2 circuit to your compressor. BTW, you also need a special plug rated at 20A, those regular $.99 plugs are rated to 15A.
