I dont blame you! Is Canada included in the TDI BS that we are dealing with?

Yes sir. Still waiting to hear the official word for Canada. It is unfortunate what this has exposed, but for me personally at the end of the day, i bought this vehicle because i liked it and it used less fuel than the gas counterpart.

You are the first Canadian I know that has actually been successful having rust/corrosion issues rectified by the manufacturer, so congrats to you! :rocker:

I was relentless. I was turned down by two dealers, then i found a real car fan.

Yup, my friend took his Range Rover (2 years old) to his dealer to have some corrosion looked at under his "extended corrosion warranty" and they told him that it was not covered due to Canada's extreme driving conditions. True story.

No bueno.

And I've heard for Audi you have to pay a percentage of the bill. Can't remember if its 50/50 or 30/70.

Yea, I completely agree. I bought a 2012 Golf TDI brand new(no longer have) and I loved the damn thing. The mileage, the power, mod-ability. I thing its great what they did though, a big middle finger to the man! Cant say I blame them...
Right after the thing happened, I remember an article came out from a British blog/journalist that tested VW, BMW, MB, and Ford and they all did the same thing. Best part is, VW was the cleanest of them all! When we bought my wife's GLK350, I was talking with the finance guy about it and he damn near kicked me out because I told him about the article, and how MB was doing the same illegal stuff. :bounce:

So are you gonna keep it or have the fix done? Not sure if you guys have that option...

Always envisioned my wife in a GLK350 actually :) Her mom might be getting a GLC shortly.

I'm still on the fence right now as to what to do. By the time everything is official i'll have to crush a bunch of numbers and see how much is still owning. Would be nice to just keep it and have two cars paid off. Makes it easier to add a third if "necessary". But at the same time i do love flipping cars. :lol_hitti

And yes it is interesting what this event exposed for the rest of the industry, too much room for manipulation. And to be perfectly honest, those Germans are clever.

On a side note, I spent a couple hours in the garage last night having a couple beers with my Bro who was super early for our family gathering :). #garagelife

Had a buddy drop by last night to borrow a part. Feels good having a GLI back at my place, miss that thing. Its funny though, add one VW and it looks like a VW meet on my driveway hahaha.

This is certainly a reminder how various cars that i've owned in the past have lead to the establishment of a friendship and with my new garage space it has often led to summer meets. This was never one of the goals when I was initially creating this space but I definitely appreciate it as a secondary perk.

The garage was put to a different use last night and it performed flawlessly. Went out to mow the lawn on Tuesday and the darn thing wouldn't start. I have zero experience with any sort of maintenance as my lawn is somewhat new to me. As a kid, i was always on lawn duty but from my recollection it was a case of when it broke, buy another. Well i wasn't about to continue on that path, this lead to a ton of reading, both the manual and online. Trekked off to the store and collected all the necessary parts to do a complete maintenance of the mower.

Changed the gas, oil, air filter, spark plug and fuel filter. After about an hour in surgery she started up like a champ. Have to say i was very pleased, especially since i was really out of my element.

Completely agree on the garage space and it's unintended draw to other like minded car guys. Have made many new friends because of the garage space and like you, that was not the original intention at all.

Enjoy reading about all of your adventures there and wherever they happen.

I'm surprised you have to mow your own lawn there. All the pictures make it look like the type of place that would have an HOA and lawn maintenance included.

VERY nice setup Dub!! With all the detail work you do, I would suggest getting a lift like the MaxJax. I use it all the time and helps to get a real good clean/wax job done - on par with your caliber of cleaning. I use it for my Porsche turbo all the time. keep up the awesome work! Your garage is very inspiring!! Wish mine was as nice.

Curiosity, I noticed the Honeywell item on your shelf, what exactly it the item?

Thnx,[/QUOTE]

Its a little space heater to help keep the garage a little warmer during the winter when i'm in there working on something. The added benefit is that it actually looks good when not in use haha.

It's funny a member from Florida would be asking that question! It looks like a space heater to me, but let's see what Dubber says...LOL

Correct! Some members don't have any use for these hahaha.

haha, love the piddle pad for the lawn mower maintenance!

Its funny actually, we were dog sitting a friends Morkie at the time, he pees on little pee pads around the house. Had an epiphany!

Took this pic the other night while enjoying a drink on the deck watching the sun set.

We are on a private street, so there is a very small fee which only covers snow removal of the road during the winter and grass cutting of the medians during the summer. Our yard is fully fenced and is our responsibility for maintenance.

Very kind of you. I agree regarding the MaxJax, its been on my radar for awhile. Not sure if ever it will actually happen, but it would be sweet!

Do it! With all the wheel swapping and spacer installs you do, it will make your life a whole lot easier. I debated a long time before buying my lift, but I'm already about half way there to re-cooping the cost of the lift based on the savings I've had by not having to pay people to do certain jobs on cars and/or doing work on other people's cars. Plus, it changes the whole vibe of your garage for the better!

Maybe Bendpak is calling me lol...

I had a friend send me this link yesterday, seems a picture of my garage made it onto an awesome list they were creating. I'm sure others on this site will appreciate. I remember taking this pic very shortly after putting the RaceDeck FreeFlow tiles in, what a transformation it makes.

Not surprising they chose your pic. You have the precision of a Dentist in all of the projects I have seen in this thread!

If you are going to logo buckets, might as well add fluid measurement marks (like automotive paint cups) so detailers can dial in mixtures. That's a step beyond my normal attention span, but it would likely fit in rather well to a detailer's setup :)

Is that a soap gun for a regular hose I see there?

I've been thinking about getting one recently...
