This foam canon stuff is new to me. I come from the bucket of soapy water and garden hose school of training. What is the complete process? Is there any hand scrubbing after applying the foamy soap or, do you rely on it to loosen all the dirt and just rinse that off? Does it have sit for a period of time?

The actual process can vary.....
  • I know some who cover the car with foam first, then rinse, then wash with two bucket method
  • Some rinse the whole car, then apply the foam, then use two bucket method
  • My standard practice is rinse and foam wheels. Then wash with bucket just for my wheels. Then rinse the whole car. Then apply foam. Then use two buckets to wash whole car

Ok, thanks for that. So it seems the foam provides the good covering of soap but there is still hand washing going on. I assume the two buckets let you rinse the wash kit or whatever is used thoroughly before rubbing on the paint.
Makes sense. Thanks.

Exactly.

This is my set-up. Scored the labels from Obsessed garage, who is a fellow GJ member. Each bucket also has a grit guard in the bottom to help separate and sediments.

I had been putting it off for quite some time. Still trying to sort out quick connects on it before i'll be fully content.

As always everything looks SUPER nice at your place! Nice work, and the grass is fantastic!

Thanks dude!

Garage is definitely in transition mode this week, really should have shot a pic. My sister is moving to her new apartment this weekend and we have a ton of her stuff we had been storing, now ready to go! Combined with several yard waste bags from my landscaping projects. And then with both of our cars gone it looked much different every time i open the door.

Been driving a loaner for a couple days when the .:R was in for servicing at my local shop. Couldn't resist and had to wash it. I guess it came down to wife being away and none of my cars were home to play with hahaha.

A few new engine bay items while it was at the shop. Keep looking to refresh while keeping to an OEM + theme.

New ride height finally settled (Pre-wash)

My cord reel went kaput a couple months ago and i never realized how useful it actually was. Funny when you think initially something is more of a luxury or decorative piece, and it quickly transitions to an everyday staple. Its replacement has been on order through Amazon for over a month, slowly losing my mind waiting hahaha. Supposed to arrive now early next week. Well shall see.

Ordered one of these for reference. Quality seemed good and the colouring fits in with my theme. Also paid way less then this, which may be a reason for the delay.

Great job on detailing the car! Thanks to you, after seeing both of your garage builds, I am looking into Racedeck for my garage now. Keep up the good work.

I just installed that same reel in my garage. Picked it up from Lowes - I like it so far!

Excellent, i'll be eagerly following that!

Always good to hear experiences of others. Thanks. Mine should finally be arriving today/tomorrow.

This past weekend i attended Eurokracy, "Canada's finest VW/Audi Car show", its been a few years in a row for me, and always an amazing time.

Snapped this where we were set up for the day; great exposure for the .:R

Post-show back at the hotel with a couple friends, settling in for a nap hahaha.

Funny side story, I had mentioned my garage had been holding several furniture items for my sister who was moving this past weekend and had been stored at our house during her transitions. Well I was out of time at the time but when she opened the garage door for the movers, they were blown away and couldn't stop commenting on how well done and organized it was. Lets just say i didn't mind hearing that from her.:D

Seat lip on the R?

Yes sir. Installed it last year, only requires a little modification to sit well with the R bumper.

Finally tried my Foam blaster attachment on my pressure washer after sourcing a quick release attachment for it.

First attempt went well, although i think i need to use much more soap. How much do you guys add?

I add about a half inch to 3/4 of soap in the bottom to get the amount of foam you saw in my pics a few posts back.

I've been dragging my heels (and its been very rainy) to finally do my thorough, post winter cleaning of the floor. With a super hot 33 Celsius weekend, i thought it was finally time.

Removed the section that holds my daily driver and sprayed down the mess to avoid dust.

Pressure washed and scrubbed down.

And back together.... It was super bright, so i'll need to take some better quality pictures.

Whole process doesn't take more then an hour, and i have to say, with my first time using the pressure washer for this application and its a very handy tool to have yet again.

What size pressure washer are you using? It also depends what soap.

I'm using a 3200psi washer with a Ricardo foam cannon. If I used chemical guys citrus wash and gloss, I use 2oz in the foam cannon and 1oz in my wash bucket. The problem is my car is cquartz coated and that soap screws with the hydrophobic properties of the cquartz. So I switched to the carpro reload. That takes a little more soap and some adjustments on the water flow side and it's good to go.

Soap is relatively cheap, I use enough to have a good base. It minimizes scratches and plus it looks cool haha

:lol_hitti LOL, it certainly does.

Looks good!

Try using 2oz of soap it's 1/4 cup. I measured mine out into the bottle and marked it with a permanent marker for ease of measuring.

Dubber, I would also recommend you use warm water...it seems to get the foam going better than cold. Although I'm in Florida so we really don't know what cold water is from the tap...

Happy Foaming!!!

I'm thinking an electric pressure washer may be in my future. Starting to really find a bunch of things that I could use it for, so it just makes sense to get one. Maybe I'll ask Santa for one this year.

As usual, looking good, man!

Do it! So many useful applications. Beyond the cars, its great for washing the windows on your house, and removing bird **** from fences, sidewalks etc and cleaning the driveway.

Just some friendly advice on the windows. I would avoid it. It can really ruin the gaskets and effect your seal. Go to town on siding but avoid windows

Really? That with a gas unit or electric? I also have windows that are only a couple years old.

Either pressure washing of any kind can damage the seals. Gas is obviously worse but electric can do the damage just as easy
