The dubs look great! Yeah!
Looks like our garages are about the same size. Yours looks really sharp!

Thanks man, can't wait to finish this up before the Queen's (GLI) arrival in the spring. Its been a fun process, mostly due to this board. Two months ago this project wasn't even on my radar.

Looks great (cars and garage).

Going back to one of your older posts...I ran across a MKII Slalom down in Miami years ago. Almost bought it but the seller wouldn't work with me on the price at all. He painted all the black trim white to match the car. Looked terrible.

OMG, your right, that would be terrible. You didn't want that one anyway. I can honestly say I loved that car but it definitely got worse through my ownership. My aunt who is a retired teacher had it in Vancouver and barely used it. I took ahold of it at 19, and gave it the full winter experience of Ottawa, it was very sad to see it slowly break down, through rust and horrible modifications based on my age haha.

Here's what mine looked like just after i got it.

The MKII can be a fickle beast. I lived with one as a daily driver for just over a year. Kind of miss it but kind of don't. Bought this thing for $500:

LOVE that grill. Do you have any more photos of it? I sourced a similar one for mine but it ended up not working due to the A/C condenser.

So i was really wanting something better looking in terms of storage that didn't have all the open shelves for a whole wall. I also really didn't like the orientation of my Husky cabinet. Well I had a vision and i ran with it. Took advantage of $40 off Husky pieces at Home Depot. Picked one up for now to help make the vision a reality. I'm really happy with the look and function. Obviously one change always leads to more so I'm working on a home for the recycling boxes as my garage is the only option for these. I picked up another Husky Track wall piece and I'll be mounting them onto that where my roller Pic is on the left of the shelves. I'll put the garbage beneath them. Going back to HD tonight to see if i can find something to get my Vac and garbage off the floor from the Husky accessory line.

Still have several changes in mind, but the flooring will dictate final configurations I'm sure.

The look of EMC2's garage solidified my Husky acquisition.

And filled with microfibers. Love it!

I'm as bright as I look in the picture above.
Nice work!

In regard to the floor layout, I did the black floor with the blue border in my previous garage. exact opposite of what you put up in your post

The one feedback I had is that everything trapped underneath it, and it was kinda a pain to drag out and clean the squares (stuff got trapped in the holes) and underneath. I used the race deck open kind though

X...

Thanks Xander. Always good to hear feedback on that product. Yes I'm looking to get the Race Deck Free Flow design. Still waiting on my sample, but mentally I've already bought it haha. I think i settled on doing black outside perimeter, then a red outline of the width of my car with the alloy or graphite on the inside.

I'm still on the fence if once i put the floor in that will be the last time a winter car will go in there. Its nice to actually see a dirty car in a picture with that floor. Probably the first I've ever seen!

Honestly, if I see a new thread featuring a single, I'm all over it.

Free Flow requires some extra attention now and again in the winter, but I find that if you let the slop dry, you can vacuum most of the debris up with relative ease. You'll need to drag the tiles out at some point (see my thread), but the benefits of it far outweight the mild annoyances. Plus, it just looks ****!

Agreed. I think i'll follow your example and have that mop handy to get the floor to pristine shape very quickly. Its unbelievable the difference that flooring makes in a space.

Thanks, really wish i had more space to work with and throw in some more pieces. Ideally i would have the 32" cabinet beside the other.

A mix of a few, last batch are all Simoniz (might just be in Canada) and Mother's.

With the last reorg it left me with 4 large pieces (garbage bin, 2 recycling bins and my shop vac) i had to relocate, this lead to another vision haha. Picked up a couple extra Husky wall systems and put them up. I'm liking the result.

This way i could at least get the vacuum off the ground and above the garbage. I think i'll grab another bracket i used for the vacuum and put it beside to relocate my hose.

Keep playing with the idea of putting a platform above my garage door rails to put up a few bins....

I love how your attention to detail (OCD-ness) has increased almost exponentially with post count! I think you are on the right track (no pun intended) - keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Just back from yet another trip to Home Depot, I'm really not good with waiting when i have something in my head. Picked up a shelf, some support brackets and an adapter that i'll use for the hose to add onto the husky rail system. Fun project.

I'm also planning on tackling some painting this weekend. I'm going to paint the lower section of cement below the drywall before the floor starts. I've got to first scrub it clean as there is some salt creep from winter debris. I'm going with black which will work nicely as a "baseboard" of sorts and will tie in well with the Race Deck once that happens. More pics to follow.....obviously haha.

Looking good. I really like the little vac hung from the wall. So are the black recycle bags hanging a "city trash pick up" thing? I like those too. Your place is really looking nice. Cheers!

Thanks the Vac hanger i used is actually for a Ladder as per Husky's Securelock system.

The Ottawa "We recycle" are actually plastic bins. Recycling is big here and they have just moved garbage to bi-weekly pick-up so its a must! I just got some new ones though, so they are fresh. I had spray painted my last ones black but they were rubbing off on anything they made contact with. Simple fix haha.

Well more updates to report.....

Mounted the shelf for bins in the place of the ski rack i had up there. That spot is pretty vital so i had to make sure i had the best use of it.

Also moved the hose over using another husky attachment, love that system.

And actually prior to both of those adjustments i took advantage of nice weather we had today and gave the floor a good cleaning, man i love the smell of Simple Green. I want to have a clean basis for new flooring....

Does anyone have any experience with those coil hoses? Gotta admit the hose it one thing that constantly pisses me off with the kinking and how much space it takes.

It's not a coiled hose, but I have been impressed with my Gilmour Flexogen hose. Never kinks. I got the 1/2" diameter and it's much easier to handle in my opinion. That being said, I can definitely see how a coiled hose would be ideal for your situation (stored in and used out of the garage). Or a wall mounted hose reel?

Looks great!

Those pictures are really nice too!

Thanks, i appreciate it.

Took on a few more projects today, since the floor was cleaned yesterday i was able to put some cement crack filler to patch up some small cracks around the full perimeter of the garage. Wanted to do that prior to painting the lower cement below the drywall in black.

I had been toying with the idea of doing a subtle accent wall on the back wall and i took the "while I'm in there approach" since i had everything off the wall to get access.

Here's after the first coat. I love the look of the "colour". Its hard to tell in the pic but its actually called Polished Silver by Valspar at Lowe's.

Looking good Dubber. A busy weekend ahead...

Thanks! The support on this board is definitely a motivating factor. Its really funny how two months ago i hadn't given a thought to the garage. Now its a race to have it perfect before the Queen (name of my GLI) arrives in April.

Race Deck samples that were sent never made it unfortunately after waiting for a couple weeks, so i contacted them today and they are sending via UPS this time some more which I'm to get at the start of next week. I really want to see and feel them before i close on them.

On a side note they definitely took care of some sneaky business by a competitor today. When i started doing my research on flooring i obviously checked out Race Deck and as always being a Canadian we try a company's site using the website end as ".ca" instead of ".com" anyhow when I typed in www.racedeck.ca it automatically brought me to Swisstrax flooring. Well initially based on that sneakiness I thought that they were related or a reseller of some sort. I later found out that it was a competitor and i informed them of this today and problem is now solved, now it goes to some Go Daddy default site.

I've definitely been putting in some overtime in the garage the last couple days and my hope is to do the same tomorrow. I was able to finish the second coat of my accent wall and i love the result. Also started to paint the perimeter after patching all the cracks. I'm painting it black to flow well with the Race Deck flooring which will be black around the outside. The addition of the black completely transformed the look of the lower part of the wall. I'm very pleased with the result. Its still a work in progress as i'm trying to smooth it a bit and ad caulking here and there where i felt a draft during the painting process.

Picture is in the process of painting the trim below the door threshold. I picked up a can of black CIL Smart 3 Ultra premium exterior Paint with primer which is supposedly for masonry, siding, cement etc. And it says its also Triple Weather Protection. It was recommended by the HD employee and i think it makes sense.

New look of the painted lower wall. I continued up the wall with the cement beside the door.

Then i decided to hell with it and picked up this bad boy, which i had been envisioning as it fit perfectly based on the dimensions i had to work with. It was still on sale and litterally the perfect width at 32". 33" from the wall on the left is my hose spigot, which is now nicely placed between my cabinet and the toolbox.

This is as of 10 minutes ago with this end of the garage put back together.

While waiting between drying times for various projects i decided to clean up the area above the garage door as i still wasn't satisfied with it. Added some of the same colour as the accent wall.

Before: Starting of project
IMG_0247_zps34094889.jpg

After: With trim painted white.
IMG_0294_zps1e282857.jpg

After: Today

Working on a few more details the next couple of days and the goal is to possibly have the flooring in about 2 weeks.

Hi Dubber.
That looks really good. Nice and clean.
Looks like we may need a dedicated Husky users thread soon :)

Loving the changes you've done. That lower part of the wall in black will flow right into your black RD. Those Husky's look great.

Thanks, guys. I had been on the fence with the last cabinet, although i wanted it, my garage was limiting me where i could put my extra set of wheels. Well i found a work around for those and stashed them in a storage closet in the house i made room for, not sure if wifey noticed yet haha. Today's project amongst the other misc items is i'm going to pick up a couple more Husky wall racks and put them up in our laundry / mud room and get those recycling boxes out. They visually take up a lot of space within the room so i'm hoping this will work out. Unfortunately i forgot Home depot is closed today, and since i'm really not good with waiting i luckily have the option of driving to Quebec (20 mins) as their store is open!

I was successful in transitioning the recycling boxes out into another space and that helped tremendously. They were a huge visual obstruction and would have been an issue with one of the doors of the new cabinet. Very happy to get them out. I think I'll use a couple of the hooks to hold my golf bag once i get it back in the spring. Took another quick pic from a bit farther back after i cleaned it up a bit more. I'm really happy with the look and functionality of the end or face of the garage space.

Yes, it's looking great. Well done. Do you have any other plans or is it only the floor you have left to finish it now?
