An astute neighbor! Looks great, very sharp with the car cover.

Thanks, yea he's a cool guy with a few toys, we are always out washing a car at the same time on a nice weekend.

Wow yes looks great. I scanned back to your floor install tonight and had to post that the transformation you have made in there is fabulous!!

Thanks! Its nice to rehash that memory, what a fun day that was.

Car fit's in there perfect Dubber. Looks great.

Thank you, yes i took the measurements of the car when i started because although i wanted it to look better i wanted way better access around the car. Also gives me less headache watching my wife squeeze by with her big purse and grocery bags :)

Looks great; well done!

Thanks, I do the same in yours :) I love the red! It also has a pretty unique driver door access zipper which I thought was a bonus.

I haven't snapped an actual in my garage yet but this past weekend i swapped out one of my diamond plate 2 bulb lights for a new 4' with 4 bulbs. That's the problem i find with garage lighting, you can't really ever have too much hahaha. I waited until i had a friend who could use mine to help justify the change.

It looks like this guy, and its expandable which is pretty cool.

On another note I'm still waiting on some vinyl decals that i had ordered at the end of February, driving me crazy at this point. One will go on the wall and another will allow me to finish my other stool.

Nice light fixture Dubber, those are the same ones I'm going to use in my garage.
Should give you a ton more light.

Thanks, i appreciate it.

Here's after the first coat. I love the look of the "colour". Its hard to tell in the pic but its actually called Polished Silver by Valspar at Lowe's.

What is this on your door? Does it automatically close the door? If it does, where did you get this?

Thanks,
-Nigel

Thanks, yes I'm liking the change and the addition of two bulbs. Only negative comments were the supplied chains for install. I opted to use my own creation.

Yes I'm not sure the name of it but it does act to pull the door closed. I've taken off the arm and i haven't yet tried removing this primary piece. I think I'm a little scared to see what is under there and if it has damaged the door etc. Our builder installed it. I can take a look to see if there is a brand marked on it if your interested.

My decals finally arrived which meant i could finally finish the other stool. Put the decal on and glazed it, loving the results.

Now i just need to find out the perfect spot to add my 'Sunday Driver' decal

I dig how your constantly personalizing and customizing your place, most people would have been finished about 5 steps ago. Still coming along nicely.

Thank you. That's the problem at this stage, all the big stuff is done so I'm left with tweaks and reorganizations, but my personality does that on a daily basis with everything anyhow. My wife's a good sport when i decide to move something (insert item: Chair, couch, table, tassimo machine) for example to another spot that i deem to be better :)

Just wanted to stop in and say thanks. Because of you and your "build", I have now joined yet another forum. The garage looks amazing and is right up my alley design wise given that it's VW themed (I'm on my fourth currently: '95 Jetta 2.0, '98 GTI VR, '03 GTI 1.8t and currently a '08 GTI 2.0t). Keep up the good work :NonAnimatedVWVortexBeerMugIcon: (I'm assuming you're familiar).

Thanks, and sorry i guess eh haha. Glad to hear you like what I've done. We definitely have owned a similar line-up of dubs; the 98 VR was for sure one of my highlights. I still remember the first month i had it at 20 yrs old my at the time insurance company wanted $500/month!

I'm a semi-regular member on the tex but more just to observe, there is definitely a different vibe there. You will however really enjoy this site, great group of peeps sharing ideas.

Cheers!

The '98 was hands down my favorite so far. If it hadn't been a ticking time-bomb I would still have it to this day (though I'm always passively on the lookout for a VR Corrado since apparently I'm a gluten for punishment).

And yeah from what I've read so far, it seems like a much better crowd here than the 'tex (though that isn't saying much, ha ha).

Finally figured out what seems to be a fix for my hose issue and constant annoyance every time I wanted to wash a car.

Found this one on clearance for $74 at Walmart, brought it home and took a closer look. Ended up not being really what I wanted; it's way too bulky as it had a 65', way more then what i really need. Realistically i don't need more then 40', so based on standard hoses 50' is the closest for most manufacturers.

Ended up returning that one and finding this guy on clearance at Canadian Tire for the same price. Gardena's quality is top notch, and its German so it can't be that bad :) I'm very happy with the size and function of this one. I'm able to quickly un-click from hose bib attachment and store it with ease.

Also took off that silver door closer attachment. The result was better then i had thought it would have been, obviously it left a few holes so i just put the screws back in.

it's a door closer. in ontario building code the door separating the garage from the house has to close (for fire code reasons I assume). Some doors have it built into the jamb mechanism and all you see is a little chain in the door jamb when you open the door.

Yea I loved the idea of that one, which they sell at Canadian Tire now but it seems based on what I've read it would be an extremely short-term solution.

if CT sells it, that's awesome! every time it springs a leak, take it back and get another one

speaking of which, i need to go to CT right now...

Hmmmm. It would appear I paid 10x too much for my hose reel! I may have to stop checking this thread at some point to save myself the pain! Looks like a smart choice and it fits well on your storage wall. Nice work.

i was going to say get the xhose
x-hose-product.jpg

but then i read amazon reviews :S

BUT WAIT!!!!! Act now and we will double the offer! Just pay additional shipping and handling (which equates to the price of the second hose).

OR, wait again, and you can get this flimsy **** discounted to nearly nothing at your local Family Dollar Store.

Grabbed this image from the VW brochure i scooped at our recent Auto Show. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The only negative is that i don't have any more room in my little single to put it up, so this will have to do.

Recently found a little memento from my old GTI, the base of the Momo Race Air Leather shifter i had, fit perfect hehe.

Here's a few more since i had the camera out.

Now i can't seem to settle on a spot for my recent 'Sunday Driver' decal. I think its because I've been waiting so long for it to arrive, I've definitely over-thought its location in the process. Here are a few options i'm toying with.

I'm really leaning towards putting it on the garage door.

And some inspiration...
