Dubber, What kind of warranty; if any, does the Gardena reel come with? I just checked Amazon after seeing your post and didn't see any info.

It's price at nearly $300 but I've been looking at Eley reels since someone here (?) posted a photo of one. I'd never heard of them before and they have a 10 year no leak guarantee. Have to admit I'm impressed with that. The GJ'er that posted it said, "Buy once/Cry once" - even though painful it makes sense to me.

I have got the same reel, warranty on it is 5 years at $300 it's overpriced, got mine last year for $180 CDN which is about $140 for you. You can see mine there on the right hand side, since my hose bib was all the way at the back of the garage ran another section to the front

I really need to do something with my floor and I love the race deck idea. I have a few questions for you.

1. I’m guessing that with the hose and detailing, you get a bit of dirt in the grooves, how do you clean them out and how often?

2. I have mostly a wood working tools in my garage, would just blowing out the dust/sawdust with a blower work?

3. My floor isn’t super flat, especially close to the footings, will that be okay?

4. Do you know the initial investment compared to epoxy flooring? I’m also considering a rubber mat type floor for comfort, but your floor just looks so good!

Now THAT is a nice hose setup my friend!!

Thanks, I’m loving it!

The retraction of that reel is what sold me. Gardena stuff is really well made.

Crazy force eh?

Thanks for sharing - the e30 looks great - love the cloth sport seats. My wife drives a Honda HR-V - think that was the little black Honda SUV that appeared.

Great stuff.

Thanks, and good eye, yes that was an HR-V. Polished and Ceramic coating now protecting it.

I would have to look into it. I just know this was a brand I’ve enjoyed without issue for over ten years of constant use. And its a brand my dad always touted as the best brand for all outdoor hose throughout my childhood.

Mmmmm I love me some e30 action!!

Beautiful indeed. I’ll get a couple other pics up.

Yea a sale sure made it reasonable and more justifiable in my eyes.

Oh Lord, that E30 was way too much for me

:)

That e30... Drool.

More photobombing to come.

Thanks! That’s a lot of questions hahaha. For my application its perfect, flat, yet pitched floor. I haven’t really cleaned the floor since installed. Initial investment is quite close to most quality epoxy flooring installs. Keep in mind you can take it with you, so tons of value in that. And I can certainly attest to that.

Here’s a few more. Recently purchased by a neighbour and left in a garage until I had time to work on it. Paint was rough, likely no protection in a longggg time!

Results came out well, but man did I have to roll up my sleeves as it were. Ceramic Coating totalling rejuvenated the old faded black trim and front grill.

Yeah. More please. I believe if my e30 knowledge is holding up that it's got some M-Technic goodies - steering wheel, body kit, etc. Looks really nice.

Any engine detailing done or all interior / exterior?

Noted. Unfortunatley I think I’ve exhausted my catalogue of pics that I’ve kept.

This was in fact a full M-Technic car. Japanese spec which was cool. All labels around the car were in Japanese. No engine detailing for this job. He has some sweet BBS wheels on route though that will put this over the top. The overall condition was impressive for a 30 year old non-restored car.

I will own another E30 one day. It may end up being an imported touring, but I will own one!! Keep up the good work, Dubber!

Nice work on the E30 and the other cars! It seemed like there were rust spots around the denali sign, were they just on the surface? In the after photo they seem gone...

Thanks man. Yea they are certainly cool little packages. Great size for a car that doesn’t get driven much as we’ll. Which in turn means more garage space 😉

What did you use to remove the caked brake dust on the x5 a few pages back?

Sean

That was a mix of Adam’s eco wheel cleaner and then P&S Brakebuster. Yea they were certainly in need.

I spy a former Japan import M-Tech II Nice was so hoping it was a Portuguese/Italian 320iS which was almost as cool as an M3 but is more rare.

Yup it was. Cool seeing the writing even in the gas cap area.

Thank you! Yea I was able to remove ALL those spots from the Denali. On white cars iron contamination particles are always the most evident. Tons of great products out there that I use with much success. On that truck I used CarPro IronX. As one of my cars is white I’m well versed in the evasive maneuvers required to keep a clean slate.

Just had a chance to actually look it up. Their website says 5 year warranty. I have the 35 meter version.

Ok, thanks for taking the time. I'm still mulling over what reel to get - I've never owned one before. I like the Eley but its stooppid expensive. I suppose hose reels fall into the "you get what you paid for" category.....like most things, damn!:bounce:

dubber,
I followed along with you when you primed and painted Dec. -Jan. I am starting to do my OSB garage walls now. I'm in a new house completed Jan. 2020 with a 24' x 28' garage. Contractor drywalled the ceiling and common wall with the house and painted that much. I have two full walls and the overhead door wall to paint so it "shouldn't be too bad"!

In reviewing what you did, can you confirm you applied two coats of Zinzeer Oil Base primer? That's my plan.
For the top coat(s) I see you used Behr Lunar Surface. Was that semi-gloss? How many coats?

Finally, any words of wisdom now that you have lived with this on your OSB for six months? Still happy with your choices? Anything you would do different?

Appreciate your experience and comments.
Mike

Back filing a deleted reply just in case others were curious.

Yes, two coats on all surfaces of Zinseer. Painted all walls with two additional coats of the Lunar surface.

Great work as always dubber. Can you recommend an easy to use polish for the detailing hacks out there like myself? My routine is very basic, consisting of clay bar when needed and now CMX (previously Zymol). My understanding is that using a polish after the clay bar will help to remove the water spots and swirl marks.

Thanks Swimrr, and sorry for my delayed response. I would say the easiest to source and use would be the Griots Correcting cream. Solid results and good for a one step. And yes you are correct, doing a polish can help to correct by removing water spots and swirl marks

A few updates at the casa to share with the group. Finally had the opportunity to get our driveway paved. At over 100 feet long it was quite discouraging fielding quotes from local companies. After more research following a random conversation with a neighbour I found a company with a very competitive rate and pulled the trigger. With the floor needing to be pulled up for a smooth transition I jumped on the opportunity to do some cleaning and lay another coat of sealer.

Where I’ve been spending most after work evenings. This is our first summer in the new home and this was one of the items that solidified our choice.

Tucked the Audi at the back of the garage for the work, knowing I wouldn’t need it for the week +

And then a much needed wash after all the dust sitting on it for nearly two weeks.

Wow! The garage is looking as awesome as ever.. and the driveway is nice I'm sure.

I didn't know your new place had a pool? I'm sure that's enjoyable, I've been spending time in ours (much needed in our desert heat).

Have a great day!

Thanks Kyle. The pool is actually shared for our street, unique little community and this feature is something I’ve been enjoying daily now. Beer and chat with neighbours.

Man that's a long driveway, but I'm glad you found someone fairly priced to get it done. Nothing quite like a freshly paved driveway!!

And that communal pool is clutch. So envious of the space you have in your triple and longing for the day when I have 3 garage spots....one day....eventually....right?!

Car and garage, as usual, are looking great. Keep up the great work, man!

Thanks dude. Transforms the look and usefulness of the whole lot having it paved. And yes a three car home for the rides is definitely in your cards, I can feel it :)

Fantastic way to spend this hot summer. Man cave is doing awesome as well.

Thanks! I’ve never really been that crazy about pools even having them growing up, but incorporating a beer at the end of day, and man its something I look forward to.

Let me borrow that pool!

Hahaha, you’ll have to kick me out first.:bounce:

Interesting choice for drive way material down her the last choice is asphalt.

It’s the only “choice” out here. Some add skirts or borders in stone, but its always asphalt as the primary. :dunno: Maybe it has to do with our temperature swings. We go from +40 Celsius in the Summer to -40 Celsius in the Winter.

Dubber,

Finally getting a chance to read your thread. I'll honestly say I didn't catch up on your single or double but I saw this pop up in the gallery the other day and checked it out. Thanks for posting all of this, it was a great read. I really like seeing the transformation of the space.

Does having a gravel driveway cause any concern for you being a detailer? I have more recently gotten in to enjoying washing my vehicles but I have a fairly long double gravel drive with overhanging tree limbs. I find it difficult to do any serious detailing in the gravel. I don't have any covering for my vehicles so it's very discouraging to wash a vehicle in the evening and come out the next morning to it being filthy. The trees keep dropping, what I assume are, small droplets of sap all over my vehicles. I've almost given up trying to keep them clean.

Congratulations on the new driveway, by the way.
