Chris and I felt we needed a break from storage projects and decided to have some fun with an EZ-GO RXV golf cart I bought as a set when I bought one for my mother-in-law to drive around the ranch. Hers is electric but this one is gas. I bought these and all the parts before the pandemic and they have been sitting in a corner just waiting their turn. Today was the day…

We wheeled the cart into the car bay and put it on the lift. We added a Jakes lift kit with new tires and rims. A new Maxjax back seat as well as replacing the old tan top with a new black one. I have new seats for the front but need to replace some corroded hardware so that is on order. I need to buy a new battery and do some tuning but hopefully she will be ready to run by next weekend

Just to emphasize how serious I was going to be on my "storage mission" for this year.... here is a little story...

I posted in the Amazon Warehouse Deals- Non Tool thread the deal for the Durham Cabinet below around November of last year. I ended up buying it after seeing it still there after a few days.

Here was the deal..

Here is the retail today...

To make a long story less long... it was an ordeal but it finally ended up getting here in February. I tried to cancel it twice as I was approaching no-return window but each time they offered a rebate. In the end it cost me a little over $800 to get the cabinet. Sometimes the big Amazon deals workout... it has a couple of small dings in the doors but other than that is fine. I parked the cabinet in the woodshop on delivery but needed to make some feet so that I could move it around into position with a pallet jack.

Well I finally got around to making the feet and unboxing it. The feet are now bolted on and it is ready to be filled with stuff. The feet are 2" x 3" 11 gauge tube with end caps which with the leveling feet is just high enough to get the pallet jack under it.

Checking another storage project off the list!

I just bought some more concrete anchors on a AWD and it reminded me I never did post the mobile grinder rack Chris and I made for the metal shop. We needed a better method for using our grinders and for storing grinding belts and we came up with this mobile table.

At SEMA last year Keven from Ameribrade made me a deal I couldn’t refuse on one of his belt grinders, holy ****, that thing is a beast at removing metal!
It is a great grinder and their customer service is fantastic! When FedEx delivered mine they threw the boxes off their truck with one of them landing on some rebar that I was using in a form for some pillars for my gate. The rebar punctured the box denting the motor cover and breaking the fan on the motor. I called and asked if I could buy the parts since it wasn't their fault. Keven said don’t worry about it and they sent them to me free.

Yes, Keven and his business partner Eric are great! When Keven called me to let me know my grinder package was ready I drove over to Oak Hills and did the factory tour and pickup my new grinder. When I got there Keven was just finishing up my grinder since it really is a small family run company, like a lot of them, this one was started in their home garage. Keven showed me around his factory and all the tooling and machines that they use to build the grinders. They even still have the very first grinder that they built! Then Keven was showing me his laser engraving setup and I had an idea, could he custom engrave my work table? Ten minutes later we had this…

After a few months of using it and now in hindsight I’d probably want the zero line closer to the left edge of the belt, but it’s real handy having this engraved right on the work table. And it seems pretty durable.

That was a great idea! I may have to copy that! My sister has one of those table size lasers and I wonder if it’s powerful enough to laser engrave mine!

Yes that is a great idea to engrave those angles on the table!

I am stuck with some health issues at the moment which is frustrating as I can’t do much in the shop so I trying to find some small projects to at least feel like I have accomplished something….

I got this magnetic base off of an AWD ( Amazon Warehouse Deal since someone messaged me before what that was ) as I saw this idea but I am not sure if it was here on the GJ or IG etc so my apologies up front for not being able to give you credit.

I took one of those round magnetic base torch stands and converted it to this magnetic base so now I can just turn the magnet off and wipe the base clean of chips.

Probably for a dial indicator or for a light or coolant nozzle...anything you could attach to the shaft.
Correct which is probably why it’s was a used return from Amazon. I was actually referring to the AWD as I used the initials before and someone messaged me asking asking what AWD meant.

Painted up some cabinets to hide the clutter my mother-in-law left in our garage when we built her a place on the ranch (that could be a whole other thread!) and she left this stuff behind...

IMG_7362.JPEG

IMG_7378.JPEG

Cleaning up and painting all the things my better half says need to be cleaned up like painting a propane tank...

IMG_7377.JPEG

Oh and can't forget the newest addition to our house and my retirement present to myself rehoming a Doberman named Jax .... he a is a big 8 month old puppy who is wearing me out!

Ouch and hope it’s healed up by now. Great to have a dog if you have someone to watch/play with him when you want to use your extra Saturdays to travel a bit. Of course why would you travel cause it looks like you’ve found paradise. Thanks for sharing!!

Arm is doing better but still only about 50% but that doesnt stop the projects! :)

Glad to see you back. Hope everything heals to the better.

Thank you! Getting there but the recovery time takes a lot longer than my mind thinks it should!

Duke, sorry to hear of your health issues over the past couple of years. Good to see you are still getting some work done and congratulations on the retirement.
Thanks Mike, the back surgeries put me way behind on getting things done but now no pain so I it was a win for the long-term!
