Very awesome table! You mentioned earlier during the construction phase of this thread a removable tig pedal holder, but I don't see that in any of the photos or the video. Did you come up with something?

I did, but but I guess I never went back and took any pictures of the holder. The table at the moment is jammed in the back of my shop as I removed a bunch of stuff out of storage and stuffed it into the shop to be moved into my new shop. I didn't time this well but I was trying to save a couple of months of storage fees as it will still be 4-5 weeks before I will be able to move stuff back out to get to the table. Once it is cleared out I will take some pics and post them up. I also just realized I never took any pictures of the holes I drilled into the top so it will be a good time to show the couple of updates I did since building the table. Thanks for the comments and stopping in to check out the thread.

Hey, sorry for the delay. Thanks for checking out the thread. I think I have some pics stored on my NAS somewhere but I will be using the table hopefully this weekend once I unburying it to build some railing posts for my new shop. I will snap a few new ones when I get the top cleaned up.

Great table and build! Now that you've used the table some, how do you like it?
I'm in the process of designing my own now so would like to hear some do's and don'ts :)

Thanks for checking out the thread Tom. I have loved having the table. The only complaint I have is that I wish it was bigger! How quickly I have become spoiled! It would be nice to have a clear top without the vise but the vise I have would be too heavy to lift on and off so I can live with it. If you are going to use a vise you might look at additional mounting tubes. I know some folks don’t like a mobile table but I had no choice in the beginning as my shop space was minimal but even now it is nice to be able to move it out of the way when needed. In fact it is currently buried in a corner until I can move the rest of my equipment to my new shop. I would visualize what you might want to build on it and factor those future projects into the design. I “borrowed” many features from tables I saw on here and Welding Web.

Just gone through the thread. Excellent table, love the features!!!

Duker, did you make the welder cart?? If you did you have a thread on it?

Tundra, thanks for the comments and checking out the thread. I started to work on a welding cart and a torch cart but I abandoned the combined welding cart when I had to do some work on our farm etc and was hauling the welder in my truck quite a bit. I have since added a Lincoln 210MP and a Powermig 255 to the mix so I don’t know if I will go down that path now.

I have a half finished torch cart going and I am hoping that now that I am breaking ground on my new metal shop in a few weeks I will be back to finishing it up this year.

I spent quite a bit of time building a cart with my welder, plasma, and torch all in one. Painted it, loaded it up, and as soon as I went to move it around, I realized it was too massive and cut it up!

****!! Sounds like me building my 12' x 3' work centre that I'm thinking of cutting in half now.
Did you come up with a different setup?

I'm starting to think this myself with the shopping cart version I'm building. Once putting the bottle on it with a welder and plasma cutter, it definitely doesn't move anywhere on its own. Being that rough asphalt is the smoothest surface i have to roll on, I might need to have two lighter carts.

One of the local guys spent the better part of a morning taking pics and measurements of a small grocery cart from a neighborhood market. His plan is to build a cart for his mig and plasma cutter and then put his bottles on the rear of the cart under the modified push handle. If he gets it figured out and starts the build, I'll grab a few photos.

What paint did you use on your welding table? The colour looks very close to your toolbox cabinets.

Z, I originally used Krylon Banner Red for the table. It was a pretty close match to the toolbox color. Unfortunately, I can’t find it close locally anymore so I will probably switch to Rustoleum’s version which if my memory is correct is called Sunrise Red which Home Depot carries.

The Krylon worked great but I need to repaint the table as I have dinged the heck out it from banging around my garage. Now that it is in my metal shop with more room it should fare a little better.

The Rustoleum color is supposed to be a little closer to the Harbor Freight Series 2 tool chest color which what am I using to complete some new workbenches for the shop.

|Found this thread doing a "welding table" search, don't see the pics?

Hey sorry about that. I changed over to a new web server and they were supposed to map everything over but obviously it didn’t happen. I will see if I can load them directly up to the GJ site this week.

Don't put yourself out, lotsa other places I can get ideas from. Whether or not I have the shills to actually build any of them is another matter! :lol2:

Hey Shorte, the table has worked out well. I did make some modifications after I built it like drilling some 5/8" holes in the top to accept Strong Hand Clamps and some of my home made ones. That was probably the single biggest improvement to the table. If I have one regret is one we all have... I wish it was bigger! As for the table, I will make another 4' x 8' fab table someday and relegate the "Weldabeast" to using for Tig and assembly work.

I am working on a steel rack now where I will move the dry cut say from the welding table to the rack and use it for cutting thin walled material.

Nicest welding table build I've ever seen. I'll do a copy of this table when my shop gets finished in a couple months.

The missing pictures of this thread caused me to check out your Barndominium thread so it was a plus for me!

Just wanted to say great build.

I'm planning to build something similar as this looks like a great way to save some space and have something fairly modular.

LOL, Thanks! Hopefully the Barn Build will have its next project done starting in the Summer, the outdoor kitchen/bunk house!

.

Duker, the only thing you really gain with a bigger table is more space for the horizontal surface disease.:lol_hitti

After 7 years this thing still impresses me. Really clever design with the integrated saw shelf and extension on opposite ends. This would make cutting down full length materials much more manageable for me.

Thanks I appreciate the comments! The slide and saw does make cutting stock much easier.

I am now at the stage of trying to figure out if I want to build or buy a bigger fab table as I now have more room in the new shop so I have relegated this table for Tig work. It has done everything I designed it to do... other than be bigger!

Here is a shot in its new spot where you can see one of the few mods I made after I built the table which was some 5/8" holes for clamps.

Definitely build new. It's nice to have a dedicated 'clean' table for tig stuff, and then a general, all purpose table for the dirty fab work.

I agree.... I am definitely enjoying the dedicated space for Tig work.

I have too many projects already in the queue so I wasn’t looking forward to adding another but the cost of a new 4’ x 8’ fab table is tough to swallow. Siegmund has their tables on sale and even the lower end 16 series is 6K+.

Yes, you need to build a new one to replace this one. I volunteer to "haul away" your current set-up for free. I will drive to Texas to do this. :lol_hitti

LOL... well I might have to build one but I will add you to the list for when I kick the bucket... !! My son has first dibs then a few buddies and after that a couple of relatives but I will put you in front of them!

Thanks for stopping in guys! Maybe I will update this with round two of a table build if I head down that path...
