Some years ago I was at the county transfer station where my cousin works. Inside a dumpster was a small roll away tool box full of tools and he said if I could get it out it was mine. SK,Snap ON and Vice Grip pliers plus numerous other quality tools. This was forgotten till this summer when I saw him in our town. We were sitting on the tailgate of his truck when I noticed 3 large wooden boxes full of various types of tools. He went on to explain that an elderly gentleman was entering the nursing home and his daughter was busy cleaning the garage and brought them to be thrown away as neither her father or herself had time to do otherwise. I have not the time to list what all was in those boxes but he let me dig through them...no he didn't offer to share...and was impressed by the age and quality of those tools. The most unique was a set of German made miniature nut drivers in a leather case where the center handle spins. How anyone could throw away perfectly good tools is beyond me so keep your eyes open people and give those forlorn tools a place to reside and be appreciated !!!!

Shouldnt really worry about things like tools if Im gone, but I often times find myself worrying what will come of my tools when Im gone. Ive worked hard to get them and its something I enjoy. Ive often times thought it would make me smile if I could somehow find someone that enjoys them like me but cant afford them or something. Try and surprise them and give it all to them.

Don't ask.
I wondered the same thing about my grandmother's knitting/sewing tools. Her scissors were used a lot but they were heavy, tight and always sharp. Is it possible that the thimbles, needles etc. were high quality items that someone would appreciate?

My wife doesn't know the worth of my tools, but she's smart enough to know that a couple of the kids do, I'm confident when I'm gone, she'll pass them on to the kids.

Where I used to work, We rented a storage unit. I would get to work about 10 min. early and check out the dumpster each day. My wife had a garage sale twice a year. I could make a few hundred on tools and golf clubs.

I got a dumpster 65" flat screen the other day. It didn't work and the facility techs said "it couldn't be fixed".

Football players are life size on that thing.

They were a lady's tools..just like my fathers mechanics tools and each one holds a different memory when I use them.

In my 70s so crossing that river isn't that far away. As to my tools, my son and grandkids are all gear-heads and will put them to good use as will they my 40 X 60 Garage and two 4 post Bendpacs, welders etc etc...... not really worried about what will happen with any of the "stuff." Had the opportunity to collect and use it all these years, building, restoring, hot-rodding and that has been a joy and worth every dollar it cost. No yard sales are going to happen here.
