Boiler friends,

I am in the NorthEast and my boiler started to act up this week and it is a pretty big issue.

Basically what is happening is it warms up and then the boiler does not fire and it cools down.

So I remove the cover protecting the control panel and wiring and when I shake a wire it fires up and starts running again.

I have boiled it down to the wire from the vent damper to the control board. If i touch the wire coming from the damper it fires and then warms up. It will then cool down and if I go back to the basement and fire it again it will do the same thing.

I check to make sure the Taco valve is calling for heat and also the damper is working correctly as well.

I am trying to figure out if the control board is bad or the wire is bad or something else that I am not aware of.

Thanks for your advice!

I think you needed to test out all your sensors, unless you don't mind throwing $200-ish away.

Mines don't have Blocked vent switch, or water temp sensor, or anything fancy. but it does have LWCO... some times it gets blocked and pressure sensor.... anyways... test the sensors first ?

especially this statement says for you to test the wiring and connections for the "Blocked vent switch" that you have.

I have boiled it down to the wire from the vent damper to the control board. If i touch the wire coming from the damper it fires and then warms up. It will then cool down and if I go back to the basement and fire it again it will do the same thing.

as mentioned...first check for possibly blockage in chimney...the vent damper may have an wiper switch on it that's acting up..is the circ. pump working? do you get heat when it runs
a few things to check- could be a loose wire at that board..guessing it's a stake on of some sort....power down and check all wiring ...if that won't do it proceed with hammer:thumbup:
get yourself a multimeter -harbor freight has a cheap one that will do...then you can locate the issue for sure

My gas valve on my Dunkirk DXL is buzzing loudly. What does this mean?

Unplug and replug each wire on the vent wire at board. Look at the terminal wire crimps any that pull off easily replace the spade. Everything looks good board should be removed it might have a bad solder joint. Take a pic of board before wire removal.
