I just picked up a Dunlap (Sears) 1/4 HP 6" grinder from CL. Figured I'd have to get a vintage grinder sooner rather than later.
Pics below: It seems to work well, has the original grinding wheels even! Glass has seen better days but isn't cracked.
Couple questions:
I'd like to disassemble/clean/lube/etc... but I can't seem to get the flanges off behind the grinding wheels. There aren't any set screws, c-clips or the like holding them on. Anyone have a suggested method of removal? I tried a small puller, but put a bunch of tension on one side and was getting worried I'd bend the pot-metal flange.
I'm guessing it's from 1953 based on the code shown in pic 3?
Any suggestions on a color combo that's period specific? It looks like it is original paint, was possibly 2-tone with the center being slightly different color.
