In 1929, those wrenches would've been just a drop in a total imports bucket of 1.79M in Reichsmarks. In 1938, a much bigger part of only 209M Reichsmarks worth of goods US companies were still willing to buy from Nazi Germany.

Lugz, those numbers don’t support your case. Typo? Decimal place?
1.79<209 That’s two orders of magnitude the wrong direction to indicate dwindling US importation.

I apparently picked up two pairs of side-cutting slipjoint pliers (C’man & Dunlap) recently, because they resembled a Utica 513. Now I think the resemblance is merely form following function. The number of teeth in the jaws, or the handles (recurved on the Utica), for instance, differs.
Diffences between the two Sears pliers...
“Nested diamonds” grip pattern, and a washer with two straight internal sides (so it stays oriented on the pivot shaft) in the C’man.
Single-forged handles and a split-type lock washer on the Dunlap. The lock washer on the Dunlap makes getting the optimal adjustment on the pivot nut more difficult. I could believe it was a replacement by a PO.
So there is an example of a Dunlap differing from a similar Craftsman model by more than the unlimited guarantee.
Not initiating an argument, just an observation of physical evidence. I have sometimes simplified the Dunlap/Craftsman pricepoint dichotomy to friends as just a matter of free replacements, but it’s actually a bit more complex.

I picked up what looks to be a NOS Dunlap wheel dresser with original box (left) some years back and used it a few times until I picked up a Kut-Rite that I care a bit less about (right) so I retired the Dunlap.

OK. I'll continue the In-The-Original-Pouch roll we seem to have started.
Here is the ever-exciting Dunlap 4080 Ignition Gauge set that I just picked up for $1.00.
Amazing for this part of the country, it has no rust anywhere, even the leaves are rust free - something I never find.

I received this little ratcheting screwdriver from Tin Medic today. It went right into the Dunlap screwdriver drawer. Thanks, Tin!

Nice machine. Looks like a good candidate for a clean up, a tune up and put it back to work. In regards to the motor, Sears used to sell their machines sans motors, giving the buyer the option to outfit it with a motor of their choosing. It's entirely possible that that's the first and only motor put on that DP. I have a fairly extensive collection of prewar DPs. As long as the motor on it is period-correct, I don't get wrapped around the axle over what brand it is.

What are you missing wrench guy? I snagged a little Dunlap table saw on a curbside pickup a while back knowing I'd never get around to it but I couldn't resist something for free. If I have any parts you need, they're yours for the cost of the ride. I can't even remember how complete or incomplete mine is.

My saw is a 0214 model but I think everything you need is on it except for the fence knob. My saw is different but most of the accessories would be same as yours. I found your saw in the 1950 catalog (clip attached). Sears sold the same saw in 49 under the Craftsman brand. They did that a lot, once something "better" came into their inventory, the new stuff would be Craftsman while the "old" Craftsman machine would hang around, but with the Dunlap brand. I think all the parts you listed would fit in a large flat rate box. You're welcome to the extension tables and fence rails too but I think they'd be too big for a large flat rate. If you want this stuff, please PM me your address and what parts you want. I'd like to see your saw when you get done with it! I'll never get to mine but it was free and the motor that was on it moved to one of my drill presses. (I'd have sent this to you in PM but I've yet to figure out how to attach pics in the PM feature here)

Nice machine! Sorry I missed it earlier. While I can't expound in detail about the AC motor, I will say that it's period-correct for the machine. For years, Sears sold their machines without motors. You bought the motor separately or powered the machine by something you already had. I suspect that machine has lived it's life on that DP. I have many old machines, as long as the motor is period correct, I let it be and consider it appropriate.

Nice complete set. I have a similar one with japanned finish wrenches.

Regarding sending pics in a PM... I think it used to be just like the forum before where there was a “go advanced” option to click, but now the way I do it is write your PM like you normally would and then get out and go to your picture library and choose your pic, hit send and when the options menu comes up showing “send as message” or “send in email” etc scroll until you see “copy iCloud link” (if you use an Apple phone) Select that and paste that into your message. Overly complicated for sure. Example

Part of a modest lunchtime gathering from a local place that does home cleanouts. Most the stuff that comes from there looks like this. Tools that have led a much harder life neglected in storage, than they ever would if they were used and cleaned regularly over the years. 3/4 of a Dunlap Wood-handled chisel set. The pouch protected the handles pretty well, but couldn't avoid the ravages of time to the steels themselves.

^ that one IS in excellent condition, and I'll bet he didn't pay nearly as much for it as what ebay sellers are asking (and ebay buyers are paying) for the same box with various other brand names stickered on it.

Mine was apparently an electronics unit too.. remnants of resistors, capacitors and the like.. wonder if that was what it was marketed as..

I saw the all metal one on there for $80.. mine was $20..

I sent my resistors to bmwrd0, who repairs vintage radios. I would never have had a use for them and thought that he might.

Found this at an estate sale last week. Not usually happy with plastic drawers, but these seem pretty solid.

It is kind of silly how many pairs of pliers I own. Or, maybe silly I keep bringing more home, but these caught my eye and came home with me today. I think the finish is nickel, based on the slightly yellow color. Is that a W, or M in the circle? Were the arrows on either end of DUNLAP used in more of their logos? I don't recall seeing those before.

I picked up this Dunlap 5/8x11/16 short DBE a couple days ago. When were the short ones sold? I've looked through the wrench section of every Sears catalog from 1957-64 and I can't find them listed, but I could have just overlooked them.

Dunlap tools were discontinued by 1960. I suspect that if there was a 1958 or 1959 catalog available they would be there. They were sourced from Lectrolite. The Lectrolite sourced long DBE wrenches are shown in the 1957 catalog.F413ADF4-70AE-45CF-9522-041EBF016A09.jpeg109E3095-1882-491D-9E2D-77AD8FAEAF0B.jpeg

I don't see any stubby offset DBEs in what 58 and 59 catalogs I have access to. Those stubbies could have appeared in one of the many regional fliers, a Wishbook or, could have been a retail store only deal. Even with the DVD set, I know there's a lot of Sears literature that I don't have access to.

Here's a recently acquired Dunlap carry box, looks a lot like the one D42Jeep showed back in Post 85. Nothing really spectacular about it, didn't think to look at the bottom before handing over my hard earned $3. All of the corner protectors are torn or worn off, and a bit of rust down there. The hasp for the lock is gone, and that might need repair, as I'm not sure how much I trust those two little latches to hold it closed under load. But the handle seemed nice under the electrical tape, may try my hand at repairing that. You can see the color difference under the flap. on top (I could, you can't since I didn't get a picture). Gave it a SG spritz and slight delay before wiping, came a bit cleaner.

Not sure this is worth a repaint, seems like the paint is OK everywhere but the bottom, and the tote. Will have to see how much metal is left on the bottom, it may get a metal piece, or some plywood to beef it up, and maybe some new corners. The sides are slightly bent, making the tote a bit of a trick to remove, but nothing major that a couple of clamps or adjustable wrenches won't fix. It's joining the queue behind a Craftsman and a Park on my restoration work.
