They look pretty clean to me. I'm still betting on the water coming from those speaker loles (when they were open). S
As someone finally closed them off, with sealer, re-enforces that hunch.
But I'll run water over the cowl once it's a roller - just to be sure.

E-Tek, don't even consider that you're flogging a dead horse; I, for one, wish you could post a video of some of your metal forming work. I'd really like to see (and hear) a running documentary of you taking a flat piece of sheet metal from CAD (Cardboard Assisted Design) to the point in time you shoot it with primer. I've got projects waiting for me that will require me to learn metal work OJT (On the Job Training) but before I jump in I want to practice the basics and seeing the process real time would be a real leg up on how it should be done properly. Keep up the great work and terrific documentation! We may not be sounding off enough after you post, but it's often the case where us neophytes are just speechless because of our dropped jaws. lol

I must be on the right track...I see your 'in progress' pictures are like the way I work...just keep grabbing the next tool I need and stacking the used ones, until I get the project done. I feel disgusted about working like that, but you have to keep moving, when you are in the groove.
OH...and I like the move to an all-in-one project thread. After lurking for a while on the GJ forum, I decided that was the way I wanted to display my work too...a one-stop-shop for seeing what E-TEK is working on.

Ironic your mention of doing a video O/S. I bought a nice little HD recorder a while back (remember my kid narrating the Challenger Start-Up - it's on my blog), but shorlty thereafter I lost the cord for it....So now it sits on the camera shelf reminding me of video's I could have shot - if I wasn't so stoopid!
As for the tools piling up....I've seen your thread M_P and although I guess I can see a bit of a resemblance..... the difference is that you'd be an Artist while I'm just a panel-beater....so the resemblance ends there!

I little detour.....on my Long-Term Rod Project.....
I just bought this '27 Model A Roadster Pickup Shell. I Pick it up Wednesday:
I was going to go with a 48 Ford Truck that resides in the bush at the in-laws farm, but it just HAS to be a convertible.
Going for something like this:

Oh well, whatever, it'll have to wait - like everything else. Thought I had the Flu last week and sepnt several days layed out. Finally went to emerge yesterday to find I have pneumonia and it's KICKING my ***. I've been out for like 20 hours a day. Hopefull the right antibiotics will get er fixed up.

Ed, recently had issues hosting photos here on the GJ myself with two topics so if you have done that move it to an off site host then every one can see the photo. Not 100% sure but it has something to do with friends etc. I reverted back to hosting photos away from the GJ that way when posted every one can see them.
As for the pneumonia take care. A viral version has been going round here.

I bet that it was not the speakers, but the heater core leaking and most likely the windshield, those are the most common spots.

Felling much better now - thanks. I pick it up tomorrow and will store it in an "annex garage" on one of my rental property's (another benefit of having rentals!). I'll be posting lotsa pics!
Of course now that I'm better, my main goal is to get the '67 Mustang done for Gustoffur! Then I'll have a little time to work on my stuff again before bringing in a '38 Ford Standard that needs finishing. Never a dull moment!

I wish I could weld as good as that.
Something makes me think you're pulling my chain....LOL!
Regardless, I did spent some extra time fitting and tacking these pieces as I want to finish them out without using any filler. I'll likely grind and tack at least twice to get it finished out the way I want it.

More done on the Cougar today:
got a question. i'm not a fantastic welder by any means but i get by. when you do a piece like that, how long do you wait between tacks? i've done a few patches and always get some pretty good warping of the panels no matter how i space the tacks. any tricks to minumize the warp?

It all depends on the panel that you are welding. Hanging a quarter panel (or partial quarter) may take you all day. You want to be extra careful with something like that. Skip around so that while you are working on one end the other has cooled enough to lay your hand on without causing blister.
And as you know a quarter panel is one large expanse of sheetmetal which can easily be warped. A smaller piece like E-Tek just did can go a lot faster because it is a more rigid piece of sheetmetal. You still want to skip around then finally filling in your weld, but it does not have to cool like a large flat sheet. And you never want to chase your weld around. By that I mean starting at one point and continuously going around until you stop at the start point. That will get you in trouble every time.It all depends on the panel that you are welding. Well, not sit back - I have too many projects on the go to do that...
Picked up the '27 RPU yesterday - got the entire shell and suspension for $900, which seems like a lot, but I haven't seen much else around....
The guy had an entire trailer filled with parts, as well as lots of other stuff outside. He said he got it all when he bought some land. The PO was an old-timer that had been collecting for years....but never did anything with it.
I had to post this next pic to show how priceless life can be! The RPU is on the trailer, the weather was perfect....and my kid is playing with Dad's work-gloves. Oh ya - and he's shirtless because he had to **** while we where loading up the car and used his shirt to wipe his ***.
