How do the German made Bollman grip pliers stack up to the HF or Dewitts ?
Anyone have any experience with these ? HJE sells them ,but I have not tried any yet.

Most of my locking pliers are Bollmann, good / price quality.

They are the largest manufacturer in Germany. Many tool brands sell their locking pliers. Knipex, Hazet, etc.

My choice for locking pliers is Milwaukee. I have not found ANYTHING better for the money. And Milwaukee is better than Grip On. Probably the most over rated tool in the history of tools. Milwaukee can be had for half the Grip On /snap on and far superior.

I was surprised to discover recently that the large Milwaukee C-clamp pliers have a major design deficiency compared to the China-made Irwin pliers I have of the same size. The maximum thickness of the object/material they can lock on substantially less than that of the Irwin pliers. The position of the linkage pins causes them to not cam-over and lock...they just spring back open far short of the thickness where the Irwin will still lock on.

I really like the photos of the factory and display boards. I think there is room in the market for someone to make the best product even if they have to be prices disproportionately. I know I could not ship a pair of locking pliers to China for what I can buy a set for. I for one will pay up for the quality and American pride. I don't mind paying for Japanese or European pride and quality. I'll pay double, no problem. I will not support any product made by cutting corners or making ****, even if it's my next door neighbor. They say they will make the best and I plan to support that. I'll weld with my old usa ones and buy new ones to go in my plier drawer .

Dunno, seems like they missed the boat by taking so long to release these. Tekton has a new line out and they look good and are labeled cr-mo. And Bremen also gets good reviews here. The Eagle grip will probably be similar quality, cost 4-5X as much and have very limited appeal. For something I use a lot, I can justify spending the $ on a brand like SK. But not locking pliers, if I actually needed some

I'm kind of the opposite. I cannot stand crappy locking pliers and would happily pay a premium for superior jaws. That said imports have gotten quite good. I like the design of the Milwaukees where they can be crushed down further while locked. I cant see buying the Malco's at $25-$40 a pair (guestimation) if they stick with making a carbon copy of the old Petersons without any improvements whatsoever.

The only models I might be interested in are small needle nose and maybe a 6" model curved jaw but they have no plans to make them currently so. :dunno:

So I said I didn't need any more locking pliers. And I don't! But a few months back Tekton had a sale.... so I caved. :lol_hitti They seem as good as my Peterson Vise Grips. Using a spring loaded center punch on the side of the jaws, the hardness seemed about the same. Yeah, I know, not very scientific but I wasn't about to take out the hardness files. The Tekton construction is excellent, very little slop. Not surprising.

And as said, there will probably be a Led Zeppelin reunion tour before the Eagle Grip hits the market. At this rate it'll take longer than the US atomic bomb development or moon landing. I'm sure there will be a small market for these, but...

i thought it funny how all of the guys earlier were saying breman and milwaukee are better than grip-on. i would agree, i fail to see the allure of the grip-on. i have a few proto branded ones.

i will reserve judgement on the eagle grips till i see them but if malco is doing it , it is probably right.

Just saw these new Snap on Made in USA locking pliers on a "Koon Trucking" youtube video, no proof but I'm betting they're Eagle Grip. Comparing to the eagle grip photo, they look very similar and both have "Original" wrote on the underside of the handle. Could it finally be happening?

Yes, these ARE rebranded Eagle Grips. Someone posted this picture in the other Eagle Grip thread. I've placed my order for the 10" SO locking plier.... should be here mid next week.

Does anyone happen to know (or remember) what a pair of Vise grip 10WR pliers cost back in 2008 when the last USA pair was made?

I think I purchased a two pack of Vise Grips at Home Depot between 2000 and 2005, and it was less than $20 for the two.

There is no doubt vise grip commoditized their tool. They were incredibly cheap for their quality and usefulness. I think that may have ultimately led to their demise. A race to the bottom is hard to stop until it crashes in china and turns into a steaming pile of waste.

I just checked Snap-on’s website and they’re asking $66 for the 7” versions. I’m curious to see what the Malco versions cost. At $66, I’m out.
