I am putting together a 1/4" Easco 6pt socket set and have noticed two distinct socket types. Which one is older?
Differences:
Type1 _______ Type2
Large font____ Smaller font
Shallow font __ Deep font
Round center__ Square center
6pt shallower__ 6pt goes deeper into socket
Round edges __ More sharp(90 degree) edges
I tried to explain the differences but I am sure the pictures do a much better job
. In the pictures: type1 is always on the left, type2 always on the right.
Which is better? I think type2 is better. The deeper forged font is easier to read, the square center is larger allowing a larger bolt to pass, the 6pt runs deeper in the socket.
Please help! Thank you!!
