Easco warranty

Hello, all. My first time posting here. Thanks to what I've learned here, I decided to try to get a replacement for a broken 1/2" to 3/8" Easco adapter. From what I gathered here, Easco was swallowed by Danaher, then later merged into Apex. Apex also owns Armstrong, so I started with their website.

Armstrong's site says to contact a local distributor, or call Apex customer service. The local distributor, Fastenall, contacted Apex on my behalf. Later that day, Apex contacted me, and gave me a RMA to send the adapter to them for "evaluation", which I did.

Today, exactly 2 weeks after Apex sent me the RMA, I received a replacement adapter. It's Crescent brand, made in Taiwan. So for the cost of postage, and a bit of my time, I've got a replacement, that is labeled "Guaranteed Forever".

Thanks to all who have posted information about getting warranty replacements from Danaher/Apex.

Most tool companies are actually pretty decent when it comes to warranty issues. Glad that Apex made good on your claim.

Surprised they picked that brand to send. At least you got one that works for now. Better than one that's broken, that's for sure.

Honestly, I'm not that surprised because, I think Armstrong production might still be messed up and an Armstrong adapter would be more expensive. I would have thought that a Gearwrench brand adapter to be the most likely candidate for an Easco warranty claim but, a Crescent version would be cheaper than the Gearwrench version. I just didn't realize you could a 1/2F X 3/8M adapter made by Crescent. It's all about counting beans.

Next time pick up a US made Kobalt or similar brand impact adapter in 1/2F x 3/8M from Cripe Distributing. They can take a lot of abuse.

The good thing I like is that Fastenal actually helped you. All too often there have been tales of woe when people have tried to warranty something through Fastenal.

First Guess: The postage, box, and packing material cost you more than the Crescent-brand adapter if you'd just thrown the Easco adapter in the trash, and bought the Crescent locally. ($4 at Ace Hardware)

I'd be FURIOUS at getting an Asian replacement for an American-made product.

I don't think they did you any favors. In fact, I think you got screwed.

I wonder if anyone else received Crescent brand tools in exchange for Easco, now or before the flood at the plant.

Until this, I didn't know Crescent sold socket accessories. Live and learn.

I've already gotten a Carlisle impact adapter from NAPA. I don't know that it will ever see a wrench, but I have it, just in case.

I think part of the reason I got help from Fastenall was due to my timing. I went in during lunch hour in the middle of the week. The place was deserted, so the counter guy probably welcomed having something to do. By coincidence, this Fastenall is in the same strip center as a Harbor Freight. HF was getting plenty of traffic.

I was about my imported Crescent type adjustable wrench with 'guaranteed forever' forged on the side but no brand:lol: maybe it is a Crescent.

I have a bunch of Easco wrenches that basically look like Crafstman wrenches. I think they were from the early eighties. I got them in a box filled with tools. I was wondering what I would do for a warranty, although I haven't needed it yet.

Thanks for the info.
