Current Status,
^^^Really am looking forward to Spn's critique on the various brands of ratchets recently acquired. I would try the vintage brands, but am concerned over replacement kits in the long run. I've come across, Wright (not double pawl), SK, modern Snap On (not sure about COO), Proto, Armstrong, and the store-brands (USA and Import). The Wright ratchet I owned for a short time was a 3430 (stubby 3/8" Drive, but arrived with a fracture on top, and gave me a mixed perception over the quality of Wright).
I'm willing to give Wright another try, but would definitely favor the idea of buying new over used. Also, I'm going to have to lubricate the ratchets I own currently.
I don't think anyone here prefers long handle 1/2" ratchets (might as well keep using the breaker bar for such applications)
Been trying to acquire a 1/4" Thumbwheel SK Ratchet, couldn't find any in the same price range as the 3/8" drive deal that was on earlier (still live)
Trying to also find a decent deal on a Clamp On Vise for the extra hand. May have to resort to import on this one
Lastly, any feedback on Knipex Raptor Pliers? HJE has them for a relatively fair price. I have the Channellock Nutbusters, but don't prefer the aggressive teeth as they mar the surface.
Thanks again!
