But come on... it's vintage! Says so right in the listing! :pimpflash

My guess.... either he or a buddy of his has others listed and he's trying to inflate the market? :headscrat

I have seen that earlier also. I think he has a couple he is trying to move at that price.

To his credit, he is correct in that they are now a rare item in the sense they do not offer a 15" 1/2" drive fixed head ratchet anymore, but $250 is out there.

I was actually looking for a long handled 1/2 drive ratchet on ebay when I stumbled on these same listings. I found a bought a new Proto Professional for $45 from another seller and am happy with that.

from my knowledge that ratchet is worth well over $100 but probably not to the $250 mark yet. maybe if it still had stickers or some sort of packaging.

heck for $250 might as well just go and buy a brand new Snap On ratchet.

I bought this one at the flea market 5 months ago for $20. Older than the ebay one because it does not have a quick-release. Can someone spot what is "wrong" with it?

I don't think anyone would pay $250 for the above ratchet but that is beyond the point of the sale. Why spend $50,000 on a restored 64 1/2 Mustang? Because you can't just out and buy one. Their value is related to how rare and in demand they are.

Looks like it was rebuilt with the wrong selector switch perhaps. I've seen that type on some of the Easco built Napa ratchets, can't recall seeing one on a Craftsman.

I believe it had a V-selector originally, that was replaced by a crescent selector. It has the "wiper" marks that a V-selector makes, which I show with a blue sharpie. It would not have been a long lever, because a long lever does not make the wiper marks.

Sears never had a normal ratchet with a crescent selector. The crescent selector was used by Sears on the flex head and torque wrenches. But I have seen a crescent selector on a normal non Sears ratchet. I think it was a Napa, as you say. Easco did produce ratchets for Sears and Napa.

What's wrong with it is that the selector is 180 degrees out, meaning somebody reassembled it with it upside down, the longer part of the raised rib on the sleector should be facing the handle of the ratchet.

The crescent selector on my long hangle is installed correctly. I will not fit if you tried to install it 180 degrees the other way. This is because the selector is keyed on the bottom. The pawl is also keyed. Because they are keyed they only fit together one way.

While I said Sears never had a normal ratchet with a crescent selector, I can make one by swapping parts.

There is a pawn shop nearby that has one of the Napa branded Easco flex head ratchets with that type of selector. That's why I recognized it.

I was going to pick it up except they wanted about $10 for it and wouldn't budge on the price.
