For my money, the 90 degree die grinder is tough to beat for running 2" (or 3") 3M ROLOC sanding discs and/or nonwoven ScotchBrite discs for quick deburring, cleaning weld haze, weld prep, etc. What I love about the ~1/2HP varieties (in the 90 degree iterations):
Super compact
Enough balls for running 2" discs all day long
Variable speed up to ~20k/min
Super ergonomic (Straight die grinders are terrible for running discs)
I don't have a good compressor setup at home, thus I can't really run one.
I got one of the Milwaukee M12 FUEL #2485-20 cordless right angle die grinders. So far it's fine. I mean that as literally as possible. It's variable speed, has decent power, but it absolutely devours batteries like no other cordless tool I've ever used (I'm running the 4.0 AH M12 batteries).
So, I'd love to find a 120V 90 degree variable speed die grinder (1/4") collet.
Just about every big tool brand makes several varieties of the straight ones, but (seemingly) nobody offers a right angle one.
Anybody know of one? or an effective work-around?
