This was reminding me about the other threads where we talk about vacuum cleaner cords that appear to be undersized...

There is a section of the electric code that deals with flexible cords, specifically for this type of equipment: Article 400

http://ecmweb.com/code-basics/flexible-cords-cables-and-fixture-wire

Take a closer look and see the 3" lead is only SJOOW 14/3. On a 25 amp circuit? Can that be right?

Table 400.5(A) of the NEC calls allows 18A on a 14 gauge flexible cord where only two conductors carry current.

I would think that it's reasonable to assume that with an 18A cord, the lift probably spikes just over 20A when the motor starts, which is why a 25A breaker and circuit is needed.

Actually motor in-rush current is 4-8x FLA but only for about 100ms.

My AC condensor is about 21a while running.

When it starts up, it spikes to about 98a (as measured with Fluke 381 that has in-rush measurement capabilities)

Wire is #10.

Think: Ford Superduty Crew Cab long box with Diesel on lift up about 1/2 way stopped. Lift has to get it going again.

I just started wiring my Bendpak when I noticed they didn't leave much space in the switch box for wiring everything up. I was looking for examples of how people were adding junction boxes to complete the wiring when I stumbled across this post. Thanks for the example!
