Oh but, Charles.... the ground is a conductor. It is referred to as a grounded conductor.

Edit: I should add that the second number is the number of insulated conductors.

While EGCs ARE conductors, they arent called grounded conductors. That term is reserved for neutrals which are grounded conductors and hot conductors are called 'ungrounded conductors'!

The Neutral is the Grounded Conductor. The bare wire in NM is considered to be used as the Equipment Grounding Conductor. The Hot lead is the Ungrounded Conductor.

The neutral is a current carrying conductor and the ground is not. But both are physically grounded conductors. Physically speaking the ground is a conductor and is grounded, but I concede to wylie as far as the meaning of grounded conductor is normally referring to the neutral. I should have called the ground a "grounding conductor". :willy_nil

Ok I had electricians come yesterday and i got 3 different bids to do the job of installing 100 amp sub pannel.

1. The highest of the three was $983.00

2. $936.00 was the mid quote from the electrical companys master electrician which i have had perform some work in the past with and have been very happy with.

3. Cheapest quote i got was 898.00

So it seems that they are all pretty close to each other. Looks like i will likely got with the mid quote as I have had success with that electrician and seems to have a good work ethic and way of doing things.
