Ellis 6000 belt grinder

Been watching Craigslist for an Ellis 1600 or 1800 bandsaw for awhile now with no luck, but this Ellis 6000 belt grinder popped up recently for a good price so I jumped on it. Guy bought it 2 years ago and it’s been sitting in his garage ever since, never used once. Got it for $900 with a bunch of spare belts and other optional accessories. It’s not variable speed but I don’t know that that matters too much. Seems like a quality, heavy duty machine.

Here!
Nice belt grinder. I like that tray in the middle for setting workpieces on.

Used it today, and am impressed so far. Very simple, quick mechanism for changing belts, easy to center the belt on the pulleys by turning an adjustment knob up front. Worked great for what I was grinding and shaping. I can already tell it was money well spent.

Sorry for the old thread bump.

I have a chance to buy this same machine for very cheap but idk if I should. I want to get a machine that I can use to square up cuts after cutting on a chop saw and treally dial in exact angles/lengths before welding. This machine dosen't have a work table or a fence of any kind but I feel it cold be added easily.

I am a hobbiest, I work on cars and do roll cage and header/exhaust fabrication so I dont necessarily need a massive machine. Any tips are appreciated!

I think I would prefer something with a belt/disc & table. Any used industrial equipment sellers in your area ? Hi-Bid or Govdeals ?

Ya we have all that here in the DFW. I found this one auction thats 10 minutes from my house and it's listed there. Bidding ends on Wednesday and it has no bids on it (opening bid is $25).

I have seen the ones with a disc and a table but everything has been a good ways out or its 3 phase.

I guess the question would be how cheap would it have to be to "make it work with some mods"...
