EMT use outdoors

I need to add a lamp to the stairs on our deck and also would like install a couple of outlet boxes for whatever. Can I use EMT fastened along the underside of the deck structure to carry wiring? I have the EMT on hand but would have to buy sealtite or pvc if that is what is required.

Yes you can use EMT outdoors

Regular compression fittings outdoors no longer are code( happened in 2005 I think). You need raintight connectors, they have O rings in them. Too bad no one in my area stocks them so regular compression connectors get used. I think the state of Maine has said if its a vertical run you have to use them(raintight conns), on a horizontal run you don't.
