I own a harbor frieght style 4 wheel engine stand . It works well , is easy to take apart for storage since the front leg unbolts . When using it its easier to put block plate on the engine then pick it up with a crane or a buddy and place on stand .
Ive owned this stand for 20 some odd years . the only 3 complaints I have are
1 The front casters are swivel and are constanly needing replaced due to the ball bearings coming out .
2 The hideous finish and color .
3 When changing the position if the engine the pin you remove and have to reinstall is kind of a pain . I welded a 1/2 coarse thread bolt to the 12 oclock postion of the engine stand head . When I want to rotate the engine I loosen bolt and rotate and retighten .
. I also welded 4 3/8 coarse thread nuts to the leg as well to hold the block bolts when not in use .
Also works to hold a diff for ring and pinion replacement if you make a bracket for it
Overall for a weekend warrior this stand will serve you well . Mine has built many big block and small block chevys .
