I've found 3 different names Stiles and 1 Herman, 2 Barrett, 3 Medart they have been sold under. Know they go back to at least 1919, Barrett is also well known for brake machines.
I'll attach some info, 3 main sizes, but a 4th is just a little different but unless they are next to each other hard to tell. I have more info just trying to put a history together. I thought I had one of each of the tools but surprise! I'll post pics when it gets here!
Use is for fender repair, you would rough out the damage and this would be your smoothing / plannishing, If you haven't tried one you don't have the respect for the repairman in the day! If you do use one, I think you will find
one they work, two it isn't easy! three I've never hurt there before!
