Epoxy coat - grind finish, need opinions

Hi, I'm getting ready to put down Epoxy-Coat basic kit on a new 450 sq ft shop, the slab was poured about 7 months ago. The slab was done well in my opinion, compared to my previous garage at least.

Obviously it needed good prep so I used the Epoxy-Coat included acid packet. I wasn't convinced it etched the surface enough and was worried about poor adhesion so I rented a grinder from the big box store and made a few passes, probably 3 hours in total. The minor surface irregularities are apparent but most of the surface was touched to some extent.

My question for those that have done a surface grind is does this appear sufficient? I don't have a primer and wasn't planning on using one, the shop has not seen any vehicles or oil or grease.

Any other tips prior to putting the epoxy down?

It was the orange store, they have the single 11" disk model. About $175 for a full day rental, plus $22 protection plan and tax, ended up over $200.

I also hooked up my shop vac to it and it probably captured 90% + of the dust.

I bought the Epoxy-Coat 500 sq ft basic kit from Amazon. Shipping was free and faster then direct buy.

I would do it again, but I would read through all this first instead of after! https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151539

I also got bubbles, although the chips hide a lot of it I was still disappointed. I only gave it about 30 hours to dry after the final wash down so I think there was still some moisture. Temps were in the low 50's all week.

But most important, I should have primed it. Primer doesn't come with the basic kit, you'll have to get that separately.

The spiked shoes can be bought on Amazon for $15 or so, you can't do this easily without them. My shop is 22x20 outside, so 400 sq ft or less floor space and the 500 sq ft kit was just enough without doing the foundation curbing.

I used all the flakes from the kit but only a fifth of the non-slip additive, that was enough for my needs.

Nothing to do about the bubbles other than sand it and put a second coat on, but I'm just going to live with it for now. I didn't do a clear coat on top. The epoxy can be slick and I'm going to be moving motorcycles around in here, I wanted good footing.

It was my first epoxy job, I'd do some things different next time but it's good enough for my detached workshop.

Awesome thanks. Im still trying to debate if this will be my project or hire someone. Hate to mess it up then have to hire someone 5 years from now and remove everything from the garage again. I will get some quotes soon and figure out what I am going to do.
