What is the advantage of buying EC at Lowe's instead of directly through EC, other than shipping? Is it cheaper? Does anyone know the current Lowe's pricing? Thanks!

Lowe's is selling it for cheaper than we do directly. If the store is stocking our product it is usually priced at $169.95. Special orders are a bit more expensive.

It is the same kit. Store # 1013 does carry it. The only colors they carry are Gray and Taupe (creamy gray)

Thanks a lot for your speedy responses, Christine! I've sent you a PM about some other questions I had before buying.

PM me, I have no idea what state you are in. I really do not look it up by zip code. Are you in California? If so, I have a recent post of the California stores.

How much more difficult is it to clean the floor with non-skid additive? That's my only hesitation about using it...

It will make it a bit more difficult to clean, we do have different grit sizes, let me know if you want something finer.

I picked up a kit at Lowe's in San Diego today - it was $169 ($153 with a 10% coupon). They had more in stock.

The thing is that i'm from Montréal and we don't have lowe's. From the list provided it seems that Platsburg NY would be the closest for me. Just waiting a response from EPOXY COAT if they would ship to Canada or maybe they have a different distributor here ....

I just had my local Lowe's special order 1 full kit of gray Epoxy-Coat for me. It was relatively painless as I brought the number in and the salesman got Christine on the phone. She walked him through the order process on Lowe's computer system. With one kit ordered, the salesman said Lowe's pays $152. He marked it up 10% to $167 and sold it to me for that. No shipping and no charge for special order. Three days later, it was delivered to the store.

This is the fourth garage floor I have done. I've used the Rustoleum Epoxy-shield and U-coat it. The Epoxy-coat install was the smoothest of all that I've tried and the results look great. The prep takes the longest if you have any oil stains at all. Application of the coating goes very quickly with pouring it out of the bucket along the wall and dragging it with a squeegee to cover the floor, then backrolling to even it all out. I did purchase a large floor squeegee from Lowe's that is twice the width of the one included in the kit. It was down 30 minutes after opening the buckets. I just used the one full kit to cover a 20 x 20 garage. Color chipping with the flakes takes some practice to get even coverage. Spike shoes and throwing small amounts at the ceiling definitely help.

Looks great. Hopefully it holds up.

Thanks for the information Christine. I purchased 2 full kits from Lowe's this Saturday for my 3 car garage. My only dilemma now is with purchasing more chips, and if I should clear on top.

The Lowe's employee told me that the Rustoleum brand clear would work great and that Rustoleum even owns Epoxy-coat. Can you confirm Christine? The EpoxyShield is available locally. Will that be just as good as the Epoxy-Coat clear? I debating on just using the base coatings and then see how I like the results before adding the clear.

Thanks for your help everyone!

Rustoleum ABSOLUTELY does NOT own Epoxy-Coat. :scared: Please tell me which store you were at so I can enlighten them. EC clear is a much better product than the Rustoleum "stuff". If you want to send me the store location in a PM that would be fine too.

How many extra bags of flakes would people recommend for a 450 sq. ft. garage painted with a full kit? i.e. in addition to the one included. Thanks.

Hi Christine,
Do any Michigan stores stock Epoxy-Coat? We are in the Grand Rapid area.

It would depend on what kind of density you are looking for.
If you want medium i would get an extra 3 lb, If you want heavy density you would need about 11 lbs of flake.
